Vacation rentals in Michigan

An obvious place to start describing Michigan is the fact that it borders on four of the five great lakes, those being Superior, Huron, Michigan and Erie. In fact, with the exception of Alaska, Michigan has more miles of coastline than any other US state – at over 3,000 miles and it also has nearly 12,000 inland lakes as well. Part of the reason for so much coastline is the fact that Michigan can be clearly divided into the Upper and Lower Peninsulas, which protrude out into the lakes. Until 1957 the only way to drive between the peninsulas was to follow the coastline, but the Mackinac Bridge, designated the “longest suspension bridge between anchorages” changed that, connecting the two peninsulas. Anyway, with so much water, Michigan offers just about every conceivable type of water activity. From water skiing to scuba diving and from wind surfing to power boating, this state has it covered. With the choice of so many beaches there are plenty of places to while away long summer days simply lazing around or perhaps trying a bit of fly fishing – although the more active might prefer the rigours of sport fishing.
