About Torch Lake:

Local legend recognizes Torch Lake as the third most beautiful lake in the world by National Geographic magazine. The lake is noted for its exceptional beauty because of the unusual color mixture of pastel green, blue and turquoise. Some have called it a "Caribbean Blue". The lake is 18 miles long, making it the longest lake in Michigan, covering 29 square miles ranking it the second largest lake in the state. The maximum depth is 315’ and the average depth is 111’ making it Michigan’s deepest lake. It is a popular lake for fishing, swimming, kayaking, boating, jet skiing and sailing. There are several sandbars on the lake, with the most popular sand bar at the south end. Torch Lake is located in an area referred to as the "Chain of Lakes" region. A narrow strip of land separates Torch Lake from Grand Traverse Bay on the northwest end and Elk Lake at the southwest end. Many lakes are rivers run through the rolling hills of the area.

The area provides beautiful winding roads with rolling hills, farm land and abundant orchards. Several small towns to discover with exceptional shopping, restaurants and breathe taking views. A great place to visit year round.
