Kauai is known as the "Garden Island" because of island's' natural beauty. Beaches on Kauai are quite spectacular, ranging from beautiful Hanalei Bay with world-class surfing in the winter to secluded snorkeling beaches you reach after hiking thru lush jungles. Kauai is the perfect vacation spot for outdoor activities including surfing, hiking, bodyboarding, swimming, snorkeling, SCUBA, kayaking, golf, and horseback riding or just relaxing in a hammock.
One of the wettest places on Earth is Mount Waialeale, located in the center of Kauai. The rainfall supplies waterfalls and rainbows around the island, but the probability is high that the sun is shining near the turquoise ocean. As the most remote of the four major Hawaiian Islands, Kauai has one main highway around part of the island. The entire Na Pali coast area is reached only by hiking, kayaking or a boat expedition.
The highest elevation swamp in the world is located above Mt. Waialeale and reached by an amazing hike thru Kokee State Park. Kauai is the only island with navagitable rivers for kayaking to waterfalls. While many areas of the "Garden Island" are very remote, Kauai also has resorts, spas and upscale restaurants to accomodate travelers.
Whether you wish to explore Kauai or enjoy a relaxing vacation rental, Kauai is a wonderful island!
