Yorkshire Holiday information and Travel Guide.
Yorkshire is simply a breath of fresh air. It offers a vast array of things to do and see and with a friendly, welcoming smile. For lovers of the great outdoors there are plenty of walking and hiking opportunities. Perhaps cycling or mountain biking is more your thing? Well there’s plenty of fun to be had here and maybe you might even like to undertake your journey by horseback!
Yorkshire has by far the largest area of National Park land in the UK at somewhere in the region of 1000 square miles. Visit the Yorkshire Dales National Park for scenery of breath-taking beauty. All the towns and villages around are named after dales: Wensleydale, Nidderdale, Wharfedale, Malahmdale, Ribblesdale and on. Visit Richmond Castle or Middleham Castle, the home of Richard III during his childhood years. There is Bolton Castle, at Hawes, where Mary, Queen of Scots spent some of her time in prison. Or simply walk the dales and take in the sights of undisturbed nature. Maybe at the end of the day a visit to the Black Sheep brewery would be in order to get a guided tour of how things really should be done. Then there is Ingleton and the White Scar Cave with its plethora of stalactites and its underground cave.
A visit to the North York Moors National Park is also in order with its miles and miles of heather and wonderful coastline with craggy cliffs. Take a stroll through picturesque villages and saunter through wooded lands with bubbling streams whilst keeping an eye out for the abbeys and castles that are dotted about. Get down on the coast and smell the fresh sea air and taste the salt on your tongue. Maybe a visit to the Peak District National Park, just a stone throw from Sheffield would also be of interest.
But Yorkshire also has wonderful towns. A visit to York is a must on any visit to Yorkshire. This lovely old town is literally brimming with sights of interest and architecture from a bygone era. York simply has to be one of the most spectacular towns in England and with York Minster and the castle is a must see place. Another great place of historical interest to visit is Helmsley where the ruins of Rievaulx Abbey are to be found.
Then there are the coastal towns of Yorkshire for fun for all the family. Famous names such as Whitby, Scarborough and Bridlington litter this part of the coast and you will find plenty to do here especially through the summer months.
Whatever you are looking for whether it is beautiful scenery. Wonderful coastlines or an historic adventure, Yorkshire has something for you. Why not check it out for your next holiday or vacation rental.
