About Holiday Rentals in Formentera - Rent Formentera Holiday Homes & Villas in Spain:

Not to be confused with Fuerteventura which is in the Canary Islands, Formentera is a small, largely flat island, some 30 minutes ferry ride from Ibiza and is often referred to as the Mediterranean’s hidden paradise island!
The main areas of interest are the beaches which are arguably the best in the Mediterranean; fine white sand and crystal clear water. If you want a relaxed, beach holiday this is possibly the best location in Europe. The evening entertainment is rather basic, - two discos for the younger element while for the rest of us it is to choose which restaurant suits you best for your evening meal & spend a couple of hours enjoying it and watching the world go by.

Until a few years ago virtually everyone got around by bicycle and everything moved at an amazingly gentle pace. Now one finds that cars and motor scooters outnumber the bicycles for hire and as a result things have speeded up somewhat. Some would call it progress.
There being no airport on Formentera, it becomes difficult and therefore costly, for the travel companies to organise package holidays. It is best therefore to organise your own travel and accommodation arrangements. Flights are to Ibiza International Airport and you then take a taxi to the port and ferry to Formentera.

The island is virtually surrounded by wonderful beaches with the most popular ones are on the Trocador peninsula or Platja Mitjon. The crystal clear water makes Formentera superb for diving or snorkelling, particularly if you throw a few lumps of bread into the water once you have swam out to where the fish are. There are diving centres in the port of La Sabina that can arrange dives suitable for both beginners or experienced divers.

It has long been accepted on Formentera that swimming costumes are optional so the island is very popular for naturist holidays. You are likely to encounter nudity on many of the beaches, however, it is not accepted on the main Es Pujols beach or immediately adjacent to any of the beach bars or restaurants.

If nudity offends you it is best to keep to these areas, but most people quickly find that it is so natural here, with absolutely no pressure to either wear or not to wear a costume that their attitude to nudity softens and they visit the beaches that they find the most appealing irrespective of whether most people have clothes on or not. Indeed many find themselves discarding their own costumes also long before their stay is out. However, be sensible, if most people are wearing costumes do likewise or find another beach.
