About Asturias:

Asturias Holiday Information and Travel Guide

This lovely and inaccessible region of Spain is quite breath taking in its beauty. It seem sot have a little of everything: a fascinating and inspired history, wonderful customs and architecture, stunning mountains and a beautiful coastline.

The Covodonga National Park incorporates most of the Picos de Europa Mountains and is home to some of the last remaining Iberian brown bears. In fact most of internal Asturias is full of great rolling hills and soaring mountains and make for some fantastic scenery on awe inspiring trails. There are even caves in the Picos de Europa and in fact some of the deepest in Europe are to be found here enticing cavers from the world over.

There are great opportunities to take kayaking or canoeing trips or even rafting along the rivers. Just walking through the splendid countryside will make you feel you are walking through a fairytale and some of the tucked away little villages are so pretty. The people are very friendly and this may be helped by the fact that the local tipple is cider. For cider lovers this is an absolute must of a destination.

The capital of the region, Oviedo, is worth a visit and you can take a walk to visit the monuments of San Miguel de Lillo and Santa Maria del Naranco or visit the cathedral in the city centre. The Church of San Julian de los Prados is also a destination not to be missed.

But Asturias also has a coastline, which is very beautiful in its own rights. There are around 350 kilometres of coastline in this region with all sorts of beaches and rocky coves. There are numerous lovely fishing villages as well as more sophisticated resorts.

Las Llanas Beach is a favoured spot. This isolated cove with swooping rocky cliffs surrounding a beautiful beach is like a little piece of paradise. Or take a trip to the Comarca de la Sidra and check out some of the lovely beaches in this locality.

Whatever you come to Austurias for whether it is the beaches, the mountains, the friendly people, the beautiful villages, its apparent remoteness or the cider you are bound to have a fantastic time on your holiday or vacation rental.
