Dating back from the middle-ages, the town of Kotor offers a lot of historical sites to see today. Kotor boasts one of the best preserved old towns in the Adriatic, the highlight of which being the 12th Century Cathedral of Saint Tryphon. Despite being damaged by earthquakes over the centuries the Cathedral is still considered to be a stunning example of Romanesque architecture and one of the oldest and most beautiful buildings beside the Adriatic Sea. Inside the Cathedral lies a large collection of unique ancient works by Kotor's craftsmen, including frescoes and reliefs of saints in gold and silver. Another interesting historical site surrounds Kotor, the ancient walls lie 2.8 miles above the city.

Filled with cafés, bars, restaurants and nightclubs, the old town in Kotor hosts the Summer Carnival every summer with over 30,000 people coming to party each year.
