Umbertide has a pleasant medieval centre and all the facilities if an Italian market town , There is a market every Wednesday to which local farmers bring there produce from mounds of tomatoes and artichokes in summer to baskets of wild mushrooms and chestnuts in the Autumn . Conecting umbertide to Perugia is one of the last private railways in Italy . A daily bus sevice to Rome also leaves from the station and the town is within easy driving distance to Cortona, , Assisi, Citta di Castello, Sansepolcro, Gubbio, Spello ,Perugia, and Lake Trasimeno where one can enjoy a swim or take a ferry trip to one of the islands for lunch.
The Championship Golfcourse Antongola is a few minutes from S.Giuliano. The major cities of Florence and Rome are easily reached by the A1 motorway
The area is a haven for wildlife Golden Orioles, Wild Boar, Porcupine and butterflies. Sheep graze in the nearby fields their milk being used to make Pecorino cheese a regional speciality
Monte Cuto is 900 mtrs and provides a challenging hike with the reward of a stunning panorama over the Appenines.
In the centre of Umbertide is the Rocca, a medieval fortress which dates back to 1374, and opposite is the La Collegiata Church built in the XV1th century.
In May are two of the most spectacular festivals the Tre Ceri in Gubbio and the Corpus Cristi flower festival in Spello.
