Amelia is the oldest Umbrian town of the region
It makes part of Umbria Amerino discrict, in the province of Terni but as Umbria is really small, Amelia is very near to Rome (130 km) and very near to Perugia (90 km): Amelia on hand, with good communications thanks to the "Autostrada del Sole, Roma-Firenze motorway.
Amelia very old "a miracle of tecnique...incredible, like an impressiv relic"...Federico Zeri. A legend narrates it to have been built more than 2400 years ago and are the most extraordinary witness to the old civilization that live here. an impressive wall of blocks joined toghether without mortar, defendin the town for over 24 centuries.they are over 700 metres long, higher than 8 and very thick.

This part of Umbria is one of the most excluisive part of Umbria: in fact many many roman people decided 20 years ago to invest here in their second country house due to the wounderfall landscape, privacy, relax olives trees, food and wine, and also because Rome was very close.
Now this area has improved with restaurant, wines,event like for example Il Palio dei Colombi ad Amelia on August, and many sagre and taverne, but the Umbria country life style is within you home wall!!
