A self-catering holiday in Abruzzo is a great way to explore this enchanting part of Italy. Whether you choose a farmhouse in Abruzzo or a villa or apartment there is so much to see and do on your vacation rental. This area has become increasingly de-populated since the second world war as people leave the land and head for the cities. But Abruzzo is full of things to see and do. It has the Appenines to the west and has the highest mountain, Gran Sasso, in the entire range. There are endless valleys and trails to explore where you will hardly meet a soul. On the high plains of the Abruzzi you may stumble across deserted hill villages and from the top of Gran Sasso you will be able to see both the Adriatic and Mediterranean seas. There are national parks such as Parco Nazionale del Gran Sasso,the Parco Regionale Sirente Velino and the Parco Nazionale della Majella. For nature lovers there are eagles, wild cats, bear and deer and wild forests of great trees. The east of Abruzzo has the Adriatic coast and beaches of both sand and rock. There are the Sette Sorelle in Teramo Province, seven great resorts with good beaches and a healthy nightlife. So you can rent a villa on the beach in Teramo or rent a farmhouse or cottage in the wonderful countryside. Either way a holiday home rental in this part of Italy will be a fabulous experience.
