An amazing feature of the Hers is the amazing spring Fontaine de Fontestorbes, which changes it's flow every half an hour, one half hour dry - letting visitors access to the caves - and another half hour wet, truly a wonderful natural feature. You're also right next to several water activities, such as kayaking, canoeing and white water rafting. For winter visitors, the ski resort of Mont d'olmes is only a 40 minute drive away. You can even purchase a fishing license for fishing in the village river.

Belesta is conveniently located right next to the capital of Ariege, Foix. A charming medieval town, Foix's main attraction is the majestic Château de Foix, a ninth century castle which despite being besieged many times over the centuries, has only ever fallen once. If you're interested in the area, a self-catering cottage in Foix might be just the thing for you.

Also nearby is the town of Mazeres, a great place to enjoy the views of the nearby Pyrenees mountains. For a wonderful place with excellent views, a private rental Gite in Mazeres would be ideal.
