The largest city on the Belgian coast, a privately owned cottage in Ostend makes a great place to bring the family for a seaside holiday.
Lie on the beach taking in the sun, and then take a walk along the pier to see the wonderful view of the coast. Swim in the North Sea, play on the beach - everything is perfect for a family holiday!
Head into the city and you will find that it has several interesting places to see such as the amazing neo-Gothic St Petrus and St Paulus Church is a stunning sight to see, and the James Ensor museum all about the artist. You can sit in one of the many cafés in the town and watch the ships dock at the port, visit one of the local markets, or maybe even see one of the music festivals in the summer. An old tall ship of the Belgian merchant fleet, the Mercator, has even been turned into a maritime museum!
The city is also near to the other Belgian city of Bruges. The medieval city is a perfect place to go and pick up some world-famous Belgian chocolate and view some stunning architecture. Why not try a short term rental house in Bruges? Or try out one of the smaller beach towns, such as De Panne, where you can find some excellent short term rental cottages, or the town of Bredene which has some great privately owned apartments where you can look out to the ocean...
