But Poland also has mountain ranges – and lots of them. In fact Poland has 21 peaks of over 2000 metres! Although all of these are in the High Tatras, Poland also has many other ranges of stunning beauty which draw in tourists from all over. Check out Pieniny National Park and Gorce National Park which are both stunning. In fact Poland is covered by 23 National Parks, with more on the way. There are approximately 84,000 square kilometres of Forest here. It has such a diverse and exotic range of wildlife both big and small that nature lovers will feel they are in paradise! Wondering free are Wisent or European bison. There are brown bears and grey wolves, boars and deer, beaver and moose – and this is not to mention the small stuff; and the many species of birds.
Don’t forget that Poland also has a long coastline of shifting sands along the Baltic. It really is beautiful, with sand dunes and sand spits which sometimes close and shut off inland waters to form great lagoons!
But this is not just a beautiful wilderness. Poland has a huge and diverse culture. It is the homeland of Chopin and classical music plays a huge part in its history. There are palaces in many cities and you can feel as though you have stepped back in time when visiting the castles of Warsaw and Cracow, With museums and festivals this, the homeland of Pope John Paul II, really is a must.
