About Argegno:

resort map Argegno, Lake Como, 40 minutes from Milan's main airports - Malpensa and Linate and 60 minutes from Bergamo. Lake Como is served by a variety of low cost airlines including Ryan Air (Bergamo) and Easyjet (Malpensa), as well as the major carriers including British Airways and Alitalia.

Since the arrival of George Clooney in the next village (Laglio), Argegno has been put firmly on the map as the up and coming place to stay. It is ideally situated only 20 minutes from Como by car and less by fast hydrofoil. It is well served by all public transport links and is therefore a great place from which to explore the rest of the lake without paying the hefty price tags of Como town.

The Medieval centre of the village is stunning, yet tranquil, with narrow passages and alleyways leading through cobbled walkways between the tall, narrow houses and stunning villas. The village retains its charm, with the old men still fishing from the marina or from the cafe bar overlooking the lake.

For such a quaint village, there are a surprising number of good and varied restaurants – ranging from a simple pizza or local fish dish (try the lake trout 'lavarello') to a fillet steak with porcini mushrooms. There are even a couple of wine bars, well worth a visit at 'aperitivo' time when there is a spread of 'snacks' laid out along the length of the bar, for you to enjoy with your glass of wine or a chilled 'prosecco' (Italian sparkling wine).

If you need to walk off your excesses from the night before, there are many scenic walks, starting with the popular 'greenway del lago' which winds its way up the lake for miles, taking you along scenic back streets and lakeside walkways for miles up the side of the lake. Or if you are felling not to energetic, you could take the cable car up to the top of Pigra and then walk down the old mule track back to Argegno.
