The 13th Century town of Mazeres is near by, and features the 16th Century Hotel d'Ardouin inside which is the Museum of Old Mazeres where you can find out about Mazeres interesting history, and 19th Century Great Hall where a traditional market is held every week. Another local place of interest is the capital of the Ariege region, Foix. With the Château de Foix dominating the city, Foix also features cobbled streets and 500 year old townhouses, as well as stunning views of the Pyrenees. There's also some great self catering farmhouses that you might enjoy.
