Prague Vacation Rentals

For over a thousand years Prague has been the economic, political and cultural centre of the Czech state, and today stands as one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe. With it's stunning architecture, many areas of culture and a large number of fascinating sights to see, a short term rental apartment in Prague gives you enough to fill your vacation with any type of fun and learning that you'd like.

For anyone even remotely interested in architecture, Prague has some of the best and most varied examples of different architectural styles. Baroque, Renaissance, Cubist, Gothic, Neo-Classical, Art Nouveau and ultra-modern styles can all be found here, and as it thankfully suffered comparatively less damage during World War II compared to other European cities many of the older building still remain today in excellent condition.

One of the main sights to see with a self catering holiday home in Prague is Prague Castle. The castle one of the biggest castles in the world and which features within it the St. Vitus Cathedral, and both of which are said to be excellent examples of Gothic architecture and are must-sees. There is also the 15th century Charles Bridge connecting the two sides of the river Vltava, another example of Gothic architecture but is also surrounded by baroque style statues. The bridge is usually very busy in the day as it is a popular spot for painters.

One of the more modern sights in Prague is the Lennon Wall, a normal wall that has become a collection of John Lennon and Beatles inspired graffiti since the 1980's. Constantly changing, the wall is a great example of street art, and the expression of youth ideals over the years.

There's also the "Dancing House", the nickname for the Nationale-Nederlanden given due to it's unique modern architecture designed by Vlado Milunić and Frank Gehry in 1996; the Prague Metronome, a giant fully-working metronome that has become a popular meeting place and has a wonderful scenic vista; as well as several museums including the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, the museum of the Heydrich assassination, the Mucha Museum and the Franz Kafka Museum. The Prague zoo was also voted the 7th best zoo in the world.

Despite all Prague has to offer, there's no reason not to go out and explore the other beautiful places in the Czech republic. The old mining town of Jesenik with it's beautiful mountainside views and it's famous spa is a great place to go and relax, or do some winter sports including skiing and snowboarding. There's some great private cottages in Jesenik that would make an ideal place to see the area. There's also plenty to see in the North Bohemia area, such as the highest mountains in the Czeck republic, including the single highest mountain of Krkonoše, to the historical cities of Liberec and Jablonec Nad Nisou.
