The Old Garrett Ranch is situated in the heart of the Hyampom valley on both sides of the river, offers about one mile of river frontage and end of the road privacy, bordered by National Forest. Experience a working Homestead with free roaming turkeys, chicken, and horses. Farm fresh eggs, organic vegetables and apples are available for purchase in season. Wildlife abounds and bird watching and wildlife viewing are some of the favourite activities on the ranch. Privat swimming holes invite you to cool of, swim and play in the water. The river is open for catch and release fishing November through March and fishing for stealhead trout and salmon is good. Hayfork Creek, a 5 mile drive from the ranch, is open most of the year (spring closures change every year).
The South Fork Trinity River is one of the last undammed and wild rivers in California. Downstream of the ranch the valley narrows into a rugged canyon, offering challenging white water for the experienced kayaker from fall to spring. The gorge upstream of the ranch is classified VI and not recommended for boating but offers a gorgeous hiking trail and a nice swimming hole at the trailhead.
Many miles of decommissioned forest roads invite you to explore the unspoiled forests of Hyampom by foot or moutain bike.
Due to its very low population, no incorporated city, no traffic light, Trinity County is classified as a dark skys county and the nights out here offer overwhelming starry skies that you will never forget.

We offer two cabins, each in a privat setting. The comfortable Riverview Cabin with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and electric heating sleeps 4 -5 people. The porch offers gorgeous views of the river and a charcoal barbecue.
The cozy Birdwatchers Cabin features 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, a wood stove in the living room and a small porch with a charcoal barbecue for birdwatching and a romantic candellight dinner. It sleeps 2 people. This cabin also offers an outside queen size bed under the overwhelming stars of Hyampom (weather permitting). Both cabins have well equipped kitchens with everything you need. Linens and towels are provided as well as innertubes for water fun.
