Nestled among the pines with views of magnificent Mount Shasta, this charming, modern chalet lets you relax and reflect on the serenity of the area while enjoying the comforts of home. Romantic luxury for two, yet spacious enough for a large family. The combination of outstanding location and exceptional layout makes The Chalet the perfect place for a mountain get-a-away.
We, Jack and Terri, live in the Bay Area and decided to buy the Chalet in 1999 for our own use and for guests. The Chalet is located 3 miles from central Mt. Shasta, just north of the city in a quiet residential neighborhood. There is plenty of distance (and trees!) between the neighbors. It is very peaceful and private. There is a view of the mountain from the deck, the dining area, and the upstairs loft area.
The upstairs master bedroom suite has a queen bed, futon (sleeps 2 kids/adults but probably not comfortable for 2 large adults) and full bath. The loft outside the bedroom looks over the living area and offers a great reading spot, and is also perfect for viewing Mt. Shasta. The downstairs bedroom (queen bed) is on the main level with another full bath near the bedroom. If needed, the full size sofa in the living room can also be used for sleeping.
We pride ourselves on meeting the needs of our guests. We ENCOURAGE early arrivals and late departures whenever the guest schedule allows for it.
We are proud of our growing number of repeat guests, and we hope you enjoy The Chalet as much as we do. We are also dog-lovers, so you can bring ALL members of the family!
Some Amenities: See-through wood burning stove (wood provided), TV/DVD, hi-speed internet access, stereo/CD player, full kitchen (refrigerator, cooking utensils, toaster oven, microwave, blender, coffee maker, dishwasher), washer/dryer, linens, BBQ, front deck with deck furniture / mountain view, 2 queen beds, 1 queen sleeper sofa, air-conditioning.
Some guest comments: (Feb. 2008) Hi Jack, we were in Mt. Shasta this past weekend when it just dumped snow all day...what an experience. We decided to stay in a smaller rental unit, as our party was smaller than usual....what a mistake. Mark and I want you to know that you do a great job with your rental, with all the instructions you give, and the condition you keep it in. It is definitely worth the expense, and next time we will be back to the Chalet, no matter what! Hopefully we'll make it back this spring, but if not, for sure next year. We appreciate you opening your home to us coastal dwellers who love the snow! [guest from Eureka]
(Jan. 2008) You are truly very lucky people to own such an amazing chalet. I will admit that I spent the majority of Friday sitting in the little loft area watching the clouds sweep through the mountain. It was a site to behold. Also, I cannot remember the last time I had such fresh water. I was impressed with the chalet and the breathtaking view. You never know if people are exaggerating or not in the descriptions of places - you were not! It was amazing. Thank you!
(Feb. 2007) We had another great time in Mt Shasta - this time we brought a couple who frequents Tahoe. They had no idea about Mt Shasta and the fun to be had. The Chalet was wonderful as expected and we'll be back again! Thanks again for opening your Chalet to the rest of us!
(April 2006) We loved the floor plan, the kitchen, the privacy, the neighborhood, and all the information. It was by far the nicest place we've ever stayed in Mt. Shasta. Despite the rainy, snowy weather we had, and the fact that we never did see the mountain, we had a great time.
(June 2005) It was like arriving at a friend's house when we were expected and welcome. It had everything we needed. Comfortable, good kitchen, good flow through the house. The location (hidden behind manzanita) with such a fabulous view of Mt. Shasta and Black Butte.
