Vacation Rental Description
For a restorative vacation for both your body and your soul, consider a week in a beautiful riverfront home on the beautiful, unforgettable Tygart River, in the heart of West Virginia.If outdoor activities are your forte, you will truly love this beautfiul and unspoiled area. Hiking and biking trails abound, and the Tygart River at your very door, offers tubing, kayaking and swimming in its clean and fast flowing waters.
You can picnic at the home's gazebo, and beside your very own waterfall, located at the rear of the property. After a day of touring, biking, or hiking you can just relax, and then enjoy your evening meal on the screened porch overlooking the river.
Later, cool evening breezes will waft through the generous, river-facing windows of the master bedrooom, while the Tygart's rapids whisper just 200 feet from your bed, soothing you to sleep.
The house is very private on over 20 acres all together, mostly on the private hill behind the house (river in front, private wooded hill behind)... the one "next door" neighbor is about 150 yards away and is an old farmhouse which is vacant, but currently being renovated for a future bed and breakfast...on the other side of the farmhouse are about 6 other little homes (further away from Cascade). There is one house being built about a half mile on the other side (beyond Cascade).
Cascade is on a quiet country lane that becomes a seldom used double track road just past the house, ideal for strenuous biking or walking. On the other side of the river (over the bridge that is 1/2 mile from Cascade), turning right puts you on a nice, smooth road with very little traffic (i.e. rare cars-about 1 car every 10-15 minutes on average), that is great for leisurely cycling or jogging.
The river is about 3-5 feet deep in the center, and is gently sloping and shallow on the sides, with smooth river rocks along the shore (“small-child hand-holding” is necessary walking along the river rocks to the water's edge, but there are no sharp drops). There are wonderful little shallow eddy pools right in front of the house, perfect for fun family swimming and relaxing.
While you can received cell phone service if you are with US Cellular, it is hit and miss for other services such as Verizon, Sprint, etc.

Activities
The fishing is great right on the shores of the property. There are rainbow trout, speckled trout, small mouth bass and a few other species. However, at this time we don't have any fishing poles to use on the property, but you are welcome to bring your own to use. In addition, you would need to have a West Virginia fishing license. Also, about 20 min or so from the house, there is Tygart Lake State Park, which offers a variety of activities based upon the season, such as boat rentals.
The Tygart River, in general, is best suited for whitewater rafting rather than kayaking or canoeing. But the tubing is fabulous. You need to start about 2 miles upstream from the house because about a mile downstream is a waterfall.

If you want to get a way from the city or suburb life, this is the place to go. From the indoor well decorated, spacious house to the outdoor beautiful, peaceful view of the Tygant River, you will experience tranquility the moment you get there. The property grounds are beautiful. The site advertises a waterfall and brook on the property, but unfortunately, they were dry during our stay. We enjoyed roasting hot dogs at the fire pit and laying out on the side yard each night, with our binoculars to view the spectacular bright star-filled sky -- something you definitely can't experience back home. The river is right outside your door and there is very little traffic along the country lane. I walked to the little church about a mile or so away and any one I passed, was genuinely friendly. The closest neighbor (not counting the two beautiful horses) was Janet, innkeeper of Angel Bandl Farm B&B. She was extremely friendly and helpful if we needed anything. Heck, she even invited me to enjoy blueberry pancakes and sausage one morning with her! All in all, we had a wonderful experience and will be going back. Our dog truly enjoyed jumping in the river and making new friends too. I highly recommend this vacation home property.
