Vacation Rental Description
Leave your worries at home and relax at this cozy year-round retreat on beautiful Skagit Bay. The large main room comprises the well-furnished kitchen, dining room, and living room. Finished in knotty pine with fir floors and ceiling, it offers a warm backdrop to our vintage and antique furnishings and accessories. The bedrooms are compact; the "master" has a full size bed with a Sleep Number mattress. The second bedroom has double bunk beds which have been a favorite with our children and grandchildren - always a great place to play! (Because the top bunk is so hard to make up, we suggest you bring sleeping bags for it, or use our washable fleece sleeping bags.)
Make it your headquarters for exploring the northwest corner of the United States, the San Juan Islands, and even Victoria and Vancouver, BC. It's just ten minutes from picturesque La Conner, Washington, and is perfect for singles, couples, or small families.
Relax on the deck as you watch for bald and golden eagles, hawks, and heron; deer, rabbits, and quail are frequent visitors to the yard. You'll enjoy walks on the beach, always keeping an eye out for agates, shells, and interesting junk the tides present, and you may even see a sea otter.
LaConner and Anacortes have some excellent restaurants and we'll happily share our favorites with you but our preferred venue is porch-side dining at the cabin: Bring out our folding table for six and toast the sun as it sets over Whidbey Island. And after dinner try a little stargazing.
We can’t say enough about the view. The sunsets are spectacular, silhouetting Whidbey Island, Hope Island, the tiny Tonkon Islands, and the majestic Olympic Mountain range. And, best of all, it’s only eighty miles from Seattle.
Traveling with friends or looking for a place for a family reunion? Consider this cabin and the cabin next door, Holiday Home #34793 on this website, and you will have two decks, two kitchens, two bathrooms, beds and futons for twelve people, and large grassy area for games. Ask about two-cabin rates.
This cabin has been both haven and refuge for four generations of our family and we look forward to sharing it with you.

La Conner is a small village and arts community on the Swinomish Channel with art galleries, artists, quaint specialty shops, restaurants, and museums for shopping, dining and exploring.
It is home to three museums. The Museum of Northwest Art features regional art, including internationally renowned artists Mark Tobey, Morris Graves, Guy Anderson, and Kenneth Callahan.
Next is The La Conner Quilt & Textile Museum which is housed a 1891 mansion and features three stories of quilts and textiles, ranging from traditional to contemporary, and which on works from the Northwest.
Finally, take the children to see the delightful Skagit County Historical Museum for a peek at how the local pioneers lived.
Activities
- Mountain Biking
- Restaurant
Our cabin is a perfect "home base" for bicycling, birding, hiking, canoeing, and kayaking. If you can tear yourself away from its comforts, you will find much to see and do. La Conner’s specialty shops, restaurants, day spas, artists’ studios, museums, art galleries, and even whale watching will surely tempt you.
The 360 degree views from Mount Erie are great. Anacortes ferries can take you to San Juan Islands and Sidney, British Columbia. Don’t miss Bellingham’s Fairhaven District and be sure to take scenic Chuckanut Drive.
Deception Pass is nature at its powerful best and Deception Pass State Park offers hiking, beachcombing and even mountain biking. Continue south on Whidbey Island and check out the villages of Coupville and Langley.
Our favorite, however, is simply getting lost on the country roads through the fertile farmland of the beautiful Skagit Valley.
