Vacation Rental Description
Highridge Retreat is a two-bedroom condominium perched on a mountaintop in Wintergreen Resort. The living room, dining room and kitchen feature breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge mountain ranges. A few partial views (photographed from our deck) are shown below, but the full vistas stretch out for miles around in every direction. Since it is impossible to capture the view in any one photograph, our guests are often stunned by the "million dollar views" they encounter as soon as they open the front door.
The panoramic views outside are matched by a comfortable, luxurious and totally romantic interior. The living room features a wood-burning fireplace, a faux-suede couch, two reclining chairs for watching the sunrise, a small desk for journal writing, and a wet bar. There is also a TV with cable and HBO; a VCR/DVD player; and books and board games to enjoy during your stay.
The condo has two bedrooms: the master bedroom features a romantic Queen-size bed, a television, an intimate deck with two comfortable chairs for viewing the evening sky, and a master bathroom with double sinks and a two-person soaking tub. The second bedroom has two Twin beds and its own bathroom. There is also a small writing desk.
The dining room seats six, and the deck is equipped with a table and four chairs. The picture on our home page was taken from our deck on a winter morning. The kitchen is equipped with a microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, crock pot, fondue pot, dishes and cookware.
We also provide DSL internet service in the condo (wired and wireless). Few Wintergreen properties provide an internet connection: most renters have to go down to the Mountain Inn to access the web.
Highridge Retreat is just a few steps from the Devil's Knob Golf Course and tennis courts, as well as the Devil's Knob Grill. It is down the road from the Wintergarden Spa and the nature center, while skiing, childcare, hiking, and other amenities are but a few minutes away by car or resort shuttle.
One last bonus that makes our condo special: you get fantastic views while climbing only a handful of steps. Many condos at Wintergreen require long walks on sometimes-icy boardwalks, and there are also steep exterior staircases. Once inside, you may find that you have rented a second or third-floor walk-up. Our building is a few short steps from the parking lot, with no steps to the front door, and inside it's only a few steps up to our condo. While our unit appears to be on the first level, the building is built into a slope, so we have a third-floor view of the valley and mountains from the back: it's the best of both worlds.
The condo is a few minutes up the mountain from the ski slopes. You can drive down and park by the slopes, or take the free resort shuttle bus that leaves every 15 minutes from our parking lot. The times are posted at every stop, so you never have to wait more than a few minutes.

Wintergreen is a four-season resort along the eastern slopes of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. It offers spectacular views of foliage in the fall; skiing, snow boarding, and tubing in the winter; hiking, birding and wildflower walks in the spring; and an array of summer activities including swimming, mountain biking, horseback riding, rock climbing and more.
Wintergreen’s slopes offer an array of beginner-to-expert slopes, as well as a terrain park for snowboarders. The resort also features one of the best ski and snowboarding schools in the region: lessons are free if you rent equipment from Wingergreen, but reasonably-priced private and group lessons are available for those who bring their own gear.
The resort does not offer cross-country skiing, but if you bring your own equipment it is possible to cross-country ski on the Old Appalachian Trail when conditions allow.
