Vacation Rental Description
Wide water view, convenient to shopping, spacious townhouse beautifully decorated. Relax and enjoy this home nestled among shade trees and located in the Waterfront Golf Community. On the lower level there is a family room with an additional TV, a sleeper sofa and another full bath. Step onto the patio, with a wonderful bench-swing, which provides yet another area to watch the lake activity. The boat slip (only available with weekly rentals) and sun deck are a short distance down the gentle grassy slope. Smith Mountain is famous for its pristine waters, world-class fishing, friendly folks, water sports and relaxed atmosphere. The lake is nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains in rural southwestern Virginia. The lake is 40 miles long, contains 20,600 acres of water and has over 500 miles of shoreline. At full-pond the lake is 795 feet above sea level. The deepest point is 250 feet deep. The average air temperatures at the lake are: summer 83F and winter 48F. The east end of the lake is near Lynchburg and the west end of the lake is near Roanoke. Both cities are approximately 30 to 45 minutes from the lake and provide shopping malls and commercial airports. The lake area offers a small town community atmosphere with quaint locally owned shops and restaurants. Boats and water equipment can be rented at Bridgewater Plaza. Smith Mountain Lake has grown into one of the most beautiful and popular residential-recreational spots on the East Coast.
Facilities
Very comfortable townhouse with two bedroom and full bath on the upper level. On the entry level is the living room, kitchen and deck with unbelievable views of the water and mountains and a spectacular sunrise over the water. On the lower level is a large den which will sleep extra people and a great place to watch movies, play cards or just relax and read. There is a patio with cooking grill on this level. The laundry room and storage room are on this level. There are book cases filled with all kinds of interesting books and reading material and games to play. It is a short walk down a grassy slope to the entertainment deck and boat dock where you can take your chair and read, swim or fish. Serene and peaceful fully describe the location and we have friendly accommodating neighbors to chat with or a drink and snack on the patio.
Activities
Smith Mountain has become a favorite vacation spot on the East Coast. It is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains, a short drive from the Peaks of Otter and the Blue Ridge Parkway where you can enjoy spring drives to view the redbud and mountain laurel in bloom and in the fall the foliage is unbelievable. Bedford with its famous War Memorial is a must-see. Roanoke, a 30 minute drive, has a large civic center with performers throughout the year. Mill Mountain Park in Roanoke, famous for its huge star, has a zoo and views of the whole city. Booker T Washington Historic Park is located close by. Rocky Mountain, a quaint little town, is about 11 miles away. Smith Mountain State Park with a nice beach and swimming area is a great place for a picnic. There are very unique and quaint shops and restaurants all around and many many marinas around the lake. There is also a small airport for private planes to land.
