1 Bedroom Cottage in Jay Peak

Cute, cozy, quiet, 2-storey, 1 bedroom cottage for rent in Westfield by night (2 nights minimum), weekend, week or longer. Clean and simple (not luxury). Very reasonable rates. Sleeps 5. 
Description: 
1st floor: Large living room with Futon sleeper sofa, 2 recliners, DIRECTV, DVD player, wood stove (cordwood provided) and traditional, red brick chimney, eat-in kitchen w/ propane stove, refrigerator with automatic ice maker/crusher, coffee machine, microwave, all cooking and eating utensils, propane backup heat, private office/smoking parlor with high speed internet. There is also a wood room behind the chimney so you do not have to leave the cottage to fetch cordwood.  
 
2nd floor: Large bedroom walled with local pine boards with queen-size bed w/ room for cot/crib (provided), 6' closet, roomy bathroom walled 100% with fragrant, native cedar, with full laundry and bidet. Towels and linens/blankets provided. There is a roomy balcony facing south brook. 
 
Outdoors: 21 acres of woods, on private road ¼ mile from Route 100, There is a patio with gas grill, woodshed/car port (or park snowmobile there), wood-fired 6 person cedar Finnish sauna by brook. 
 
Location: Just half mile to village store, snowmobile right onto VAST trail and Jay Peak Resort (BTW Jay Peak is in our town of Westfield--not in Jay as most suppose), Hazen's Notch cross-country ski trails are very nearby, Stowe with its famous Trapp Lodge, many shops and ski resorts is about 1 hour south on Route 100; Montreal is about 2 hours northwest (the Canadian border is less than 10 miles north), many lakes are within an hour (Carmi, Eden, Willoughby, Memphremagog, Seymour, Salem, Maidstone). We provide our own, custom, handy listing of places of interest (e.g. churches, restaurants, gyms, fire/police, etc.) with their phone numbers.  
 
Policies/rules: 
In general, behave yourselves as if at a parish picnic. We are very family-oriented, having raised 5 of our own here. 
No pets (we have made exceptions). 
Indoor smoking only in smoking parlor/office. If outside, please do not litter the grounds with your butts. 
Since we believe in the God-given purity and integrity of all nature, especially human nature, guests can feel free to go au naturel while sauna-bathing.

• Travel Info: Directions to Carmel Cottage: We are just off VT Route 100 between Route 58 in Lowell and Route 101 in Troy. Driving from points south, go north on I-91, take Exit 26 at Orleans and follow VT Route 58 west over Lowell Mountain and down into the village of Lowell where 58 meets 100. Go right (north) on 100. Drive north on 100 for 3.4 miles and see the Westfield Benedictine Monastery set back on the right. From their driveway drive 2.6 more miles north and see Degre Auction House on the right. On the left, across from Degre's is our unmarked, private road (Carmel Rd.). It does not look like much, so don't miss it. If you go too far, you will see Berry Creek Farm (strawberries) on the left. Less than a quarter mile from here is the Westfield General Store on the left (with post office behind) on the left and Beloin's Brookside Hardware on the right. Drive up Carmel Rd and see a post & beam, drive-through gate (less than a quarter mile from Route 100). Go right on the next driveway which leads to both Carmel Cottage (#260) and our big house (#258). To check in, ring our doorbell at the big house (#258) and we will greet you at the door. Please be patient as Jim is disabled and may take a couple of minutes to answer the door. From points north, exit at St. Albans and follow VT Route 105 east to Route 118 in East Berkshire. Go right on 118 all the way through Montgomery Town into Montgomery Center. See Sylvester's Market on the left. Go left on Route 242 up Jay Peak mountain and see the Jay Peak entrance on the left. Stay on 242 down the other side of the mountain into Jay village 4-corners, going right after the Jay Country Store onto North Hill Rd. Drive down North Hill Rd to the end at VT Route 100 in Westfield. Go right for about a half mile and see Degre Auction House on the left. Carmel Rd (unmarked) is directly across from Degre's on the right. Then follow directions as above. Directions from Carmel Cottage to Jay Peak Ski Resort: Drive back down Carmel Rd to Route 100 and go left. About a half mile up see North Hill Rd on the left. Go left here and drive a few miles to the 4-corners in Jay village (Jct. Route 242). Go left on 242 up the mountain several miles and see the Jay Peak entrance on the right. If you keep driving on 242, you will descend into the village of Montgomery Center.
