Welcome to Whitney Lake Cabin where we have a recently remodeled cabin/cottage nestled in the hills of Lake Whitney's most beautiful and scenic areas on the Bosque County side. This is the perfect weekend place to spend time getting caught up with family, friends, or just for a little relaxation. 
 
Lake Whitney has been officially recognized as the "Getaway Capitol of Texas" and is often compared to a Texas Hill Country Lake, but, without all the lake traffice and overbuilt lake shores. Lake Whitney's 23,500 surface acres of clear water and 225 miles of shoreline are sure to satisfy a broad variety for those with recreational interest or just "getting away." 
 
Whitney Lake Cabin is located on the Southwest shoreline with an easy 90 minute drive from the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex or 2 hours from Austin. Our cabin's central Texas location gives you more time to enjoy your weekend without the lengthy drive. 
 
We fully equip the cabin with everything you might need to include: multiple beds (queen, twin, single, and kids bed), all linens, oven/stove, microwave, color HDTV, dvd player, stereo, and coffee for your early morning wakeup. We have a fenced yards if you plan on bringing your family pet. We do allow housebroken pets inside - please call for details. 
 
If you like to keep active or need to have the little one's kept busy, here are a few recreational items that we provide at NO ADDITIONAL COST! 
 
HIKING: You can access miles of hiking/walking trails behind the cabin. Be sure to have good shoes should you decide to climb down on of the various canyons for a little cave exploration under one of the numerous canyon walls. 
 
CANOEING: We provide a 3 seat canoe(approximately 80 pound carrying weight) with ores and life jackets. You can take out the canoe down to the lake for exploration up one of the various lake coves. During the spring months, active waterfalls are easily seen. Don't worry as we provide life jackts for all sizes, including children. ADULT PARTICIPATION IS REQUIRED AND LIFE JACKETS ARE MANDATORY. 
 
FISHING: We also provide fishing poles. Walk down to one of the water edges and throw your line in. Strippers are sometimes hitting shad on the top or try some frozen bait on the bottom for a large blue catfish. Another favorite is wadefishing underneath the Whitney Dam for black bass. Access is free. 
 
GAMES: Try your luck at the horseshoe pit. We also have an electronic dartboard and air-hocky table inside the gameroom.  
 
GRILL: Light up the gas grill, it's cooking time!

    • Whitney Lake Cabin is nicely furnished with a full kitchen (stove/oven/microwave/dishwasher/refrigerator), washer & dryer, oversized "bunk" room that includes 1 queen/1 full/1 single/1 twin. The main room (both living and kitchen has a vaulted ceiling and includes lots of space, HDTV, DVD player, and books for relaxing. Behind the cabin are wooded trails for exploring and just a short walk down to the lake. Enjoy the full length covered front porch with rocking chairs or the screened-in side patio with dining table and chairs. Additional outside tables and chairs are also available for bar-b-ques on the gas grill. A 3 seat canoe is provided with ores and like jackets -ADULT PARTICIPATION IS REQUIRED AND LIFEJACKETS ARE MANDATORY. Kids can enjoy the old "fish house" that has been converted into a game room with air-hockey, electronic darts, sitdown checkers, and fishing poles.

    • Looking for something to do? The Lake Whitney area provides a great central location that gives you more time to enjoy. The surrounding hills and natural limestone terrain offers unique "Hill Country" habitat and a variety of native plant species. The local towns of Hillsboro, Whitney, and Clifton offer some of the most unique museums and shopping that can't be found anywhere else in Texas.  
     
    Want more to do! Go check out Waco's new Mammoth Site, Glen Rose Dinosaur State Park, 2 golf courses in Whitney, 2 National recognized Disc Courses in Waco's Cameron Park, and shopping at Whitney's historic downtown. In the evenings take a drive thru Walling Bend Park where the deer come out to eat and see the massive limestone cliffs where the locals go cliff jumping into the lake.

    We just returned from our spring break at the cabin and what fun we had! We visited Dinosaur Valley, Fossil Rim Wildlife Park and the Waco Mammoth site and zoo. All of our choices were wonderful! We especially enjoyed driving around at dusk and viewing the deer! We want to thank you for the use of your cabin. We were a little bummed about the burn ban and not being able to have a fire, but we did break down and use the indoor fireplace our last night, so the kids were absolutely satisfied with that! We even roasted marshmallows indoors! The cabin was just as you described and had every amenity that we could have wanted or needed. What a wonderful way to spend a relaxing vacation with our family. Thanks again!!
