You can tie your boat on the pier as well and head out to the many fishing "spots" on Copano Bay or Aransas Bay or wherever your heart desires.  
If you're like my wife and I and love crabs, there's a crab trap at our pier just waiting for some chicken necks or hamhocks to bring in some giant Blue Claw Crabs.
