Vacation Rental Description
Ornately constructed 135 years ago, the house survived the Great Storm of 1900 and Hurricane Ike in 2008. Its original hardwood floors from 1871 remain intact in much of the house and the home is beautifully and comfortably appointed with period compatible furnishings throughout to make your stay feel both timeless and memorable!
We are situated in the middle of the charming East End National Historic District and placed on one of the most architecturally significant and visually pleasing streets in Galveston. Ball Street is often visited by horse-drawn carriages whose tours are conducted by local guides.
On the few days that Galveston experiences inclement weather, you almost have to open the front door and look outside to tell whether or not it is raining! The only sound you hear is the ticking of a clock.
The house has over 1,800 sq. ft. which includes three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a living room, dining room and kitchen.
The extremely comfortable and well lit living room has two large plush sofas and fine period compatible furniture, perfect for relaxation and entertaining.
The dining room is part of the living/dining area and features a Queen Anne table and six chairs. A china cabinet, side board, and bureau full of linen tablecloths and napkins are situated near the dining table. A silver tea and coffee service is also included.
The downstairs TV/sitting room is a convertible bedroom (with a Queen Size sleeper sofa and a 2" memory foam pad) to comfortably house 2 additional guests for a total of 6 guests. A Deep full size bath is adjacent to the TV/ Sitting room.
The kitchen has been completely furnished with two sets of china dishes, each with 8 place settings. The silverware is a silver plated service for 12. The kitchen is also stocked with quality pots and pans, and all other items necessary to cook and serve any meal. A toaster, Cuisinart food processor, microwave, coffee maker, electric grinder and ice cream maker are included. The kitchen table comfortably seats four adults.
Two great bedrooms await you upstairs, each with queen-sized beds. There is also a large full size bathroom adjacent with a wonderful tub for bubble bath fans.
The home is tastefully landscaped with colorful flowers and bordered on one side by sheltering 40' trees with a white trellised back porch that is ideal for those who wish backyard privacy and a view that hasn't changed since 1888. You can see the steeples of the Bishop's Palace from the porch and rear kitchen window.
