Nestled among the tall pines and deep green of the laurels, you will find Mountain Laurel Cabin. Our cabin welcomes you as you drive up and see the large covered front porch, complete with rocking chairs, porch swing and table. Upon entering the cabin, you will be pleasantly surprised at its openness, accented by a vaulted ceiling. Cuddle up next to the wood burning fireplace, or go to sleep in the upstairs loft watching the embers burn low. The cabin is completely furnished with all linens, kitchen equipment and cooking utensils. Just bring your own food! There is a stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, coffee pot, toaster, washer and dryer. There is air conditioning for the summer months, but you might prefer to leave the door open and let the cool mountain air blow through the screen doors. There are two bathrooms, one on the main floor with a tub and one in the upstairs loft with a shower. The bedroom on the main floor has a queen bed and opens to the main bath. The upstairs sleeping loft is open to the great room and has a queen bed and two twins, perfect for a family. The sofa makes a queen bed and has a foam topper for the mattress. The basement is unfinished and houses the washer and dryer, but there is also a king and full bed there in case of overflow guests. The great room has a TV/DVD/VCR combo and there is a TV and VCR in the main floor bedroom. We have lots of games, books and puzzles as well as a video library. The phone is local service only, so you might need some calling cards. Just let your family know the cabin number and they can call you. Out the back door, step onto a deck that feels like you are walking into the woods. Sit out here and grill some steaks on the gas grill while listening to the birds and squirrels. There is room to park 2-4 cars and plenty of room for a motorcycle trailer, also. Mountain Laurel Cabin feels like you are a world away from civilization when in fact it is only a short drive to Asheville, NC and all its shopping, museums, art galleries and the world famous Biltmore House and Gardens. Only a 10 minute drive will get you to the Blue Ridge Parkway and breathtaking views. From here you can hike, bike or fish in the beautiful streams and enjoy crashing waterfalls plunging to the creek below. Many ski slopes are within 40 minutes to 2 hours away and the Cherokee Indian Reservation and the Great Smoky Mountain Railway are 45 minutes to the west. We invite you to come and enjoy all the beauties of Western North Carolina, the place we call home, and relax with us at our cabin in the woods, Mountain Laurel Cabin, your home away from home. Come see us!
