The Sarasota Backcountry consists of over 100,000 acres of protected wilderness located within 30 minutes of downtown Sarasota. There are hundreds of miles of groomed trails and over 60 miles of Wild and Scenic River. The subtropical jungle is filled with wildlife and exotic plants.
CULTURE: Sarasota is the home of the Ringling Art Museum, and has an active opera company, the Florida West Coast Symphony, Sarasota Ballet Company, Florida Studio Theater, and the Asolo Theatre Company. The Sarasota Film Society presents indy and art films, and Holywood 20 presents all the current movie hits.
