Vacation Rental Description
Six knotty pine guest cabins, that sleep from 1 to 8 people per cabin depending on the type of cabin selected, built new and opened in October, 2003. Two "Romantic" Cabins include a whirlpool tub for two. The other four cabins have two bedrooms in each. All with modern amenities and fully stocked kitchens, bath/shower room, indoor wood burner, outdoor fire ring with all needed utensils. Firwood provided. Our guest cabins are located in north central Pennsylvania's Elk Country in the PA Wilds along the Bennett Branch of Sinnemahoning Creek in Benezette Township, Elk County. The guest cabins also abutt the Moshannon State Forest.
On-site utiliy building (the "Shanty") houses coin operated washer/dryer, TV/VCR/DVD player with a collection of movies, telephone for local and emergency calls (use a calling card for long distance access), games and books and brochures of local attractions, hiking trails, wineries and other information.
No vehicles are allowed on the grounds providing a more peaceful, quiet get away. We provide large hand drawn wagons, with pneumatic tires, to transport your personal effects from the parking area to your cabin(s) along a lighted, near-level gravel pathway.
TV's and phone were purposely excluded from the cabins to give you the time needed to escape, to rejuvenate, to communicate, to bond, to love. But we also have added full wireless internet access across the grounds for our guest's convenience.
We have two Romantic Cabins that sleep two. Set up in a great room style with a whirlpool tub in the sitting area along with the indoor wood bruner.
We have two Couples Cabins with a queen size bed in each of the two bedrooms to sleep 4 persons per cabin.
One Family Cabin that would sleep six with a queen size bed in one bedrooms and two sets of bunkbeds in the other bedroom and one Friends Cabin that has two sets of bunkbeds in each of the two bedrooms to sleep eight round out our offering.
On site picnic pavilion for small wedding, reunions, parties or to act as a common area for multiple cabin gatherings. Also a on site walking trail along the creek follows an abandoned railroad bed.
Local attractions include wineries (25 miles and further), Straub Brewery (16 miles), wildlife viewing (including our local elk herd), State Parks (20 miles), hiking and biking trails, canoeing (livery is ~18 miles in Ridgway, PA along the Clarion River), easy access to scenic drives throughout the PA Wilds and small shops. Dining is with in 4-5 miles and golf courses are as close as 16 miles.
The cabin grounds retained as much of the woods as could be done along with planted pine trees between the cabins to provide more privacy for guests. Easy creek access can be found for playing or swimming. Just be mindful that it is a creek and not an established swimming area. Beach access can be found at Parker Dam State Park and a community swimming pool is in St. Marys.
We are open 12 months per year and all seasons offer their own special time to enjoy our outdoors and cabins.
