I have just returned from taking my young granddaughters to the knotty pine cabin. They loved the built-in, roomy, bunk beds. They are very comfortable. We all enjoyed the wide selection of DVD's. We watched three new movies within four days! The swing was a big hit! We hope to return in sunny weather and enjoy the beach more than we could this time. But there was a lot to do inside the house. We made collages, played games and ate well.

I would like to agree with the other positive comments about the cabin. After 5 days in a car via Seattle, Portland, Crater Lake, Crescent City CA, and finally Oceanside, my group of 4 guys really found the relaxation, warmth, and recreation that the cabin provided a welcome relief. We weary campers were very comfortable and the weather that Rory ordered was also very nice. The fireplace is excellent. The master bedroom was great! My son Travis and friend from work Karl both gave me a thumbs up after about the first half hour in the cabin. Ask Rory about the agate hunting beach next time you go there. Well done and no complaints!

"A perfect retreat"
I found this to be a perfect retreat for me. The house was lovely, fully stocked and very clean. The wonderful plank paneling on the walls and ceilings, in addition to the fireplace and ocean views made it feel very homey. It was just a short walk to the beach, where you can explore the coast for miles. I even tried some boogie boarding (fun!) while the more adventurous surfed. Unlike many coastal towns, Oceanside isn't overrun by traffic because there's no through highway. That makes it nice and slow-paced and quiet. Even so, there's an excellent restaurant ("Roseanna's") plus a handy coffee shop (which also makes a fine chowder) and a bar. Everything I needed, and the tree house in the side yard turned out to be a perfect place to just sit and watch the sea.

A Wonderful restful place, April 16, 2008
By Brandy Pace (Portland, Oregon)
From the moment you walk through the doors you realize that you are in a special place. In a short time you can feel the cares of the world just drift away as you relax in front of the fireplace and watch the waves from the comfort of a big overstuffed chair. We really enjoyed how quaint, yet how comfortably appointed the cabin is. It really has the feeling of the old Oregon Coast but with all the modern amenities. A real gem and a real find. We will be back!

A very cozy, warm, inviting cabin. Reading by the fireplace was totally relaxing when mixed in with walks on the beach. Incredibly well equipped; like never leaving home. Watching the sunset over the ocean from the treehouse was ultra cool! We'll certainly come back. Perfect town and place, if you just really want to unwind & relax.

Cosy and family friendly stay, June 29, 2010
By Susanne (Portland)
I stayed in the Cabin for a week with my kids and parents. My husband was there for the weekend too. We all found it very cosy. There is plenty of books, DVDs and kids toys to enjoy so you dont neet necessarily have to bring your own stuff. Great choice of towels too. The cabin has the charm of an old family getaway - not new and stylish but welcoming and warm. I know Oceanside a bit and found it a great place to be. I recommend this house strongly and might come back.

This cabin is heaven. Love Oceanside -
it's small and quiet. Love that the cabin
is well taken care of...fireplace burns
great, knives are sharpened, everything
is clean and well-maintained. Wetsuits
for playing in the waves a huge bonus.
We always enjoy every minute of our
stays at this cabin, and can't wait to
come back.

Once again, the tranquility and peace at Knotty Pine swept us away. Our kids loved Rory's Tree House. Kristie enjoyed boogie boarding with our 8 year old and I enjoyed the addition of the televisions. Nothing beats a crackling fire while the wind and waves whisper in the background. We will be back, hopefully soon!

We have loved the Oceanside community and its beauty for over 20 years. We hope others enjoy it as much as we do.
The cabin is a real 1930s cabin which has been modernized, but maintains its comfortable charm. Even though it is small ( about 800 square ft.), it has a great floor plan so it feels larger to me. The view from the house and deck is great, and the tree deck is alot of fun with an awesome view.
I've slept up in the tree deck and with the surf sounds, I felt I was sleeping in the ocean.
Oceanside is a picturesque town overlooking the Three Capes rocks which are a wildlife refuge for a multitude of birds and sea lions.
The area is at the 'end of the road' with little commercialism and natural beauty. It is also one of the closest coastal towns from Portland which is 90 minutes away.
We are fortunate to have the cabin as our home away from home.
