Orville Chandler Ranch
This is a modern 4 bedroom home smack dab in the middle of a 320 acre cattle ranch. Forests, fields & meadows.
Description: This beautiful retreat is in the center of a 320-acre working cattle ranch. The home is situated where field and forest join and where one view is as great as the other, but vastly different. Wild game frequently mingles with the cattle and can often be watched from any direction from the many windows. The ranch is nestled in a private little valley, right at the base of the Elkhorn Ridge, which rises to over 8000 feet. Hiking, biking, fishing, hunting, gold panning, mushrooming and bird watching are just some of the many activities to be enjoyed right on the ranch and in the vicinity. Many visitors favorite pastime is to savor the solitude and natural surroundings and to enjoy the quiet. During the winter, skiing (both cross-country and downhill) snowmobiling, sledding and observing wild game are popular. Again, right on the ranch and nearby. Anthony Lakes Ski area is 19 miles distant and an Elk feeding station is 5 miles away.
At all times of the year enjoy the quiet, privacy and serenity of being away from it all as you can be only in very special places. This is the ideal spot for family or friend reunions.
There are two very good golf courses within range. Baker City has Quail ridge, 18 holes an open course with one nasty creek that causes me lots of problems. Union

This is NE Oregon. You may notice, that at this writing, there are no other vacation rentals listed within 200 miles. This is unspoiled country, much as it was 50 or 100 years ago. Oh we get some tourists, but not many, certainly not too many. The wild game is aboundant and wild. The trails are never over used and there are miles of them. your dog can be off leash as long as he's here, so can you.
There are some good restaurants nearby, that means 20 miles, and everything else you will need.
Baker City,20 mi. is trying to become a destination resort, and has for a long time with only some succes. The mountains and the valleys are as unspoiled as you will ever find.
Orville Candler Rnch is unigue, where else can you enjoy the wilds of Eastern Oregon from a base of comfort and luxury.

This house was built in 2003 for the sole purpose of being a vacation rental. For years we had heard from our friends and nieghbors what a special spot we had for our old farm house and we believed that to be true. When the time came to tear down our old farm house we replaced it with this modeern house and decided to share it with you.
Our guests seem to agree with us, it is a special place.
Except during winter, when we have too much snow, we have camping and RV parking to accomodate huge numbers of people so we are an ideal location for family reunions and plain old get togethers. We do have a surcharge of $5.00 per person per night for such overflow crowds but that is small change.
You can be your self here, there's no one to stop you. There may be consquences if you over do it.
