It's like living in a tree house!" This luxury mountain vacation rental home is nestled in the Smoky Mountains on Lake Nantahala. At an elevation of 3200', Nantahala Lake is one of the highest mountain lakes east of the Rocky Mountains. Almost every room in this luxury vacation home has panoramic views of the lake and surrounding mountains, and since only 5% of the Nantahala’s shoreline can be built on, the views are not marred by other homes. It is truly one of the most pristine and peaceful lakes that you can find. The beauty and tranquillity are unsurpassed. If you’re looking to escape everyday life for a short while, The House of Stone and Light is the perfect mountain cabin for the job. With all the amenities you would expect in a luxury home rental and tons of extras, this little mountain getaway is perfect for both a romantic honeymoon destination, a large family reunion or a company retreat.
The home is located bwetween Andrews and Franklin, North Carolina. It is approxiamtely 1 hour from Asheville, NC with all of its wonderful attractions including the Biltmore House. Highlands, NC is about an hours drive with its charm, quaint shopping and sophisticated restaurants.
Our home is beautiful yet family friendly. The westward facing decks afford incredible sunset views. As adults relax and enjoy the view, the kids can enjoy a lively game of ping pong or a movie on the big-screen TV.

Facilities
The home features stone wood burning fireplaces with gas igniters. The floors are a combination of slate, heart of pine, and Berber carpet. The kitchen counters are limestone and the master shower is all slate & glass block. I The kitchen is fully equipped with a convection oven and microwave. It has a refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, gas range, and a Jenn-Aire griddle/grill. All cookware and utensils are provided. There is a gas grill as well as a charcoal grill. There is a hammock, chaise lounges and rocking chairs on the deck for your relaxation and enjoyment. The house has an "audiophile's" stereo system with CD player, satellite TV, and a DVD/VHS library of over 60 movies. There is also a ping pong table. There is a dock for all of your water activities. The water of Nantahala Lake is crystal clear and cool. A 26' high performance pontoon boat (seats 12) with a Suzuki 4-Stroke motor is available for rent.
Activities
Hiking & Biking: Our home is in the midst of dozens of excellent hiking trails. Examples of the trails that are available include the Bartram Trail and the Appalachian Trail. Mountain biking is available at Tsali which is only thirty miles north of the house. It is considered to be the Southeast's mecca for mountain bikers.
Fishing -Many people come to this area JUST for the fly fishing! The Nantahala River along Wayah Road, within minutes of our home, provides a beautiful setting as well as abundant trout.
Whitewater Rafting- The Nantahala Outdoor Center offers a variety of rafting adventures.The Nantahala is a Class II-III river and is a fine trip for both the first-timer and the experienced rafter.
Horseback Riding through the Nantahala Gorge is available within 20 min of the house.
Golf - Several nice golf courses are within a 30 minute drive of our home.

We require a $500 security deposit to secure the rental agreement. This deposit is refundable within 45-60 days after the rental period if there is no damage to the house. The cleaning fee is $100. We have a 60-day cancellation policy. We prefer payment by check.
