Vacation Rental Description
This 4,000 SF lodge is in the cool mountains of North Carolina, between the cities of Highlands, and Cashiers. Originally built in 2003 as a second (summer)home, we use this frequently ourselves. Big enough to accomodate a large family or visitors. In addition to the 6 BRs there is a den and loft with more beds. 
 
Open floor plan, with outside deck and screened porch overlooking the mountains. One BR and bath is on main level so limited mobility guests do not have to encounter steps.  
 
Only one neighbor within sight, we are deep in the woods, with the Nantahala National Forest bordering our back yard. A path from our house leads to the Chattooga River and Trail - which holds the rare designation of "wild and scenic" by the US Forest Service. This is a hiker's paradise with too many trails to mention! 
 
We are an easy and beautiful 15 minute drive away from both Highlands and Cashiers - two very beautiful and popular resort towns with lots of dining, shopping and golfing. Also nearby rivers and lakes for water activities.

    • We have an outside deck overlooking the mountains, which also has a BBQ Grill. Outside is a shaded hammock, child's fort and swings, and fire ring for campfires.

    • Since our backyard is the national forest, this is ideal for children who like to play in the woods. The nearby Chatooga River is also perfect for swimming and picnics. 
     
    Most people rent this to "get away from it all", and just relax and socialize together. Although town is only 15 minutes away, this feels very quiet and full of solitude. We are on a dead-end road and there are no houses above us, so it is very unlikely any cars will drive by the house.
