Vacation Rental Description
Fergusons' Mountainside Cabin has been enjoyed by hundreds of visitors to the High Country since we acquired it in early 2001. Many guests have commented that visiting Mountainside Cabin is like staying at the home of an out-of-town friend. It has all the comforts of home, as well as the privacy of the woods, the beauty of the mountains and the activities of a resort area.
Like every room in the cabin, the living/dining room has a cathedral ceiling. It also has clerestory windows and a stone fireplace which offers warmth and atmosphere after skiing or on cool summer evenings. Relax with cable TV (new flatscreen not shown in photos), a video or dvd, or enjoy your favorite music on the stereo/CD/ cassette player. A small assortment of videos and CDs are provided. You can do all this while working on your laptop with the high speed wireless internet connection.
Handmade quilts cover the beds in the two vaulted-ceiling bedrooms, both of which open to the front deck with glass doors. The master bedroom has a king size bed and is adjacent to the large (5 person) hot tub, a great comfort after skiing or hiking. On one side of the Jacuzzi room is a bathroom and on the other side is a small deck.
The second bedroom has twin beds and also opens to the front deck with glass doors. The cozy sleeping loft is accessible from this bedroom by ladder and has two foam chair sleepers which unfold to small twin size. A second bathroom serves this side of the cabin.
The dining room table seats six comfortably. For additional seating, four bar stools line the counter that separates the kitchen from the living/dining room. The kitchen is fully equipped with range, refrigerator, microwave oven, dishwasher, dishes and cooking utensils. A full-size washer and dryer are adjacent to the living/dining area.
The large front deck is accessible by glass doors from each of the bedrooms and the living/dining room area. It is equipped with several chairs, a picnic table, and a gas barbecue grill. From this deck you can see the zip line and tubing run in the winter when the trees are bare.
The cabin is in very good condition. It is heated by electric wall units located in each room, making it comfortable even in the coldest weather. Ceiling fans in the bedrooms and living/dining area cool the cabin on warm summer days. Since the cabin is at approximately 4500' elevation, it is always cool in the evenings.
The cabin is located on beautiful Seven Devils Mountain, between Banner Elk and Boone, NC.

Mountainside Cabin is 1/2 mile from the ski slope, 10-20 minutes from Boone, Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain, antique shops, outlet mall and fine restaurants. With open beam ceilings and rugged paneling, handmade quilts, stone fireplace and 3 decks, it feels more like a cabin then a typical "house." But it has more technology than you would expect in a traditional cabin--2 tv's, cable, high speed wireless internet and cd/dvd player.
The kitchen is well equipped with everything from pretty dishes, sharp knives, good cookware to iced tea spoons and an electric griddle. The sleeping loft is popular with the youngsters and everyone loves the 5-person indoor hot tub, gas grill, picnic tables, 3 decks and gorgeous views from each window. If you are quiet or early enough, you are sure to see some interesting wildlife.
Pets welcome with permission. No smoking inside.
