Vacation Rental Description
Delightful one to three bedroom cottages nestled under ancient pines and towering maples on 1.6 acres of perennial gardens and manicured lawns on picturesque Indian Lake in the Adirondack Mountains of New York - one of the last great wilderness areas in the northeast. We are located in the tiny hamlet of Sabael, NY. We have a post office and general store within walking distance. The hamlet of Indian Lake is 4 miles north on Route 30 where there are restaurants, a local (IGA) food market, hardware store and other gift shops selling sundries. Burke's cottages are located in the tiny hamlet of Sabael on Indian Lake. All cottages have views and access to Indian Lake where we have a beach, swim float and boat dock (20" boat max.) for our guests. Canoes are left on the beach for your use as well as life jackets and paddles (all free of charge). A small Marina is nearby for rentals. Cottages are comfortably furnished with fully equipped kitchens; beds from twins to king, depending on cottage, some with woodstoves or fireplaces in the living rooms, some with covered decks, screened porches or large uncovered deck. All have picnic tables, adirondack chairs, charcoal grills and wonderful views of Indian Lake. The waterfront area also has an observation deck and seating areas with campfire pit...all with marvelous views of pristine "forever wild" wilderness areas. One week minimum rental during summer months (mid-June through Labor Day); two night minimum rest of year, except 3 might minimum rentals during holiday weekends. Cottages are fully insulated and heated for year-round usage. The snowmobile trail between Indian Lake and Speculator runs down Indian Lake (usually frozen after Christmas) and can also be used for cross country skiing in season. There are 2 golf courses nearby as well as numerous hiking trails...one of the "best five water access only" hikes is directly across from our property: "Baldface Mountain"!!! Burke's Cottages are a perfect spot for relaxation or experiencing the serenity of the surrounding wilderness. Sorry, we do not allow pets. We do not provide towels or linens (blankets and pillows are supplied. This beautiful property has recently been subdivided and some of the cottages pictured are now for sale. Please email owners for additional sales information.
Facilities
Cottage contain one to three bedrooms. All have fully equipped kitchens; one (Cottage #3) has a dishwasher and was completed redone in 2006 with all new appliances, mattresses, decorations, etc. It is our largest cottage, but still sleeps a maximum of six persons. We do not supply linens or towels. Cottages vary in type of mattress size, so please ask the proprietors.
Activities
There is a small marina nearby where you can rent a boat with a small motor for fishing, a larger motorboat for waterskiing (bring your own skis), or a "party" boat for groups of six-eight with pontoons. This larger party boat cannot be kept at our dock. You may bring your own boat and leave it at our dock (20' max.). However, you cannot launch your boat from our property. It must be launced from the nearby marina ($10 in/our), or the State Campsite Marina (about a 20 min. drive further south on Rte. 30). We are less than an hour to the Outlets in Lake George for shopping as well as "The Great Escape" theme park.

$200 deposit required per cottage, per week; balance due on or before May 1st for all summer rentals. All reservations firm. No refunds if cancelled after May 1st. Two night minimum rentals during Fall, Winter and Spring. $75 cancellation fee for bookings cancelled after Labor Day. Rates do not include maid service, meals or linens. Cottages have heat, hot water, full kitchens including pots, pans, dishes, utensils, etc. Picnic tables and charcoal grills for outdoor barbecues. Private beach and boat dock. One family per cottage ($50 fee for 2 families sharing a cottage). Two car maximum. Day guests require prior approval. DayGuest Fees: $10 per person per day. No overnight guests. No pets. Check in after 3PM; Check out before 10 AM. Personal checks, money order or cash accepted for payment.
