You will experience the only SAND DUNES on Fresh Water in the WORLD!
Ernest Hemingway spent many LAKE MICHIGAN summers as a youngster.
Famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright built several homes in the Area.
The Shoreline Dunes are described by the Noted poet Carl Sandberg's poem:
"The Dunes are to the Midwest what the Grand Canyon is to Arizona and Yosemite is to California. They constitute a signature of time and eternity."
The special tranquility of waves laping at the Shoreline speaks to the moonsets and moonrises before and after the matchless Sunsets under a sky revealing all the heavens of Stars so seldom seen in populated Areas.
One guest when asked how he would describe our Area along Lake Michigan: as simply the "Edge of Civilization!"
It aptly describes so many characteristics: fewer crowds, samll towns (approximately only 60 families per square mile in some of the townships,an occasional farm rolling up to the LAKE MICHIGAN Beach. Just North of us MONTAGUE is still a One Stoplight town, and the next town North- Rothbury has no stoplight downtown.
