Vacation Rental Description
Sand between your toes every day! After a day at the beach, rinse off in the outdoor shower, jump into the hot tub, and turn on the gas barbeque on the back deck, which overlooks the woods. Enjoy the open, spacious floor plan with skylights throughout the home. There is a wood burning fireplace in the Great Room. Enjoy coffee on the screened in sunroom. Wake up to birds singing. Maybe you'll see the flock of wild turkeys who visit the neighborhood! The kitchen has every amenity for the avid cook. (We use this home ourselves quite a bit so we won't settle for less than what we have in our our primary home!) Two story living, with the master bedroom on the second floor, with king sized bed and its own full bath. A second bedroom on the second floor has a queen size bed, and its own full bath with tub and shower. On the first floor is the third bedroom with a day bed (single), with its own full bath with tub and shower, too. The home is on a very private lot in a cul de sac (can't see the neighbors), and abuts miles of conservation property. Our home is mid-Cape in the colorful historic town of West Barnstable, an ideal location for exploring all of Cape Cod, which is 65 miles long, with many diverse attractions. A 5 minute drive through historic West Barnstable, on the King's Highway (route 6A) takes you to Sandy Neck, one of Cape Cod's best beaches--six miles of pristine beach on the North side of the Cape. Want a quick dip in the lake, or to try kayaking in fresh water? Lake Wequaquet's freshwater beach and boat ramp is less than 5 minutes away. Public golf is one mile away. Walk through conservation areas in West Barnstable for miles of biking and hiking. Great antique shopping nearby. Festive, artsy Provincetown at the very tip of Cape Cod, is a great day trip from the home. It's ten minutes to Hyannis for shopping and cinemas, many fine restaurants, or to catch a sportfishing boat. The Islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket make great day trips, accessible via high speed ferry out of Hyannis. Historic Boston is a 1 1/2 hour drive north.

Our home is fully furnished because we use it at times when it's not rented, when we leave our primary home on Nantucket Island to visit the mainland. The kitchen is fully equipped, including coffee maker, toaster, bread baker, microwave, gas stove and oven, tea kettle--cooks will have all the right equipment. Although there is no central air conditioning there is a room A/C in the master bedroom and ceiling fans in 4 of the rooms. Full size washer and dryer in the basement. Tired of the beach? Our pool table is in the basement. We have a wood burning fire place for cozy autumn or winter nights. The hot tub is outdoors on the backyard deck, usable all year round--it's particularly welcome to put your face upwards into falling snow (or rain) on a winter night, while bubbling in the 104 degree tub.

Cape Cod is known for its ocean beaches, where one can surf, wind surf, parasail, boogie board, kayak, sail, and fish. Many will delight in fresh water sport as well, as there are many ponds and lakes on the Cape. There is a full gym with indoor pool in Hyannis, 10 minutes away. During the summer there is live theatre at The Cape Playhouse in Dennis, minutes by car. Hyannis and Provincetown have plenty of night life. Taste fresh seafood (or other delightful multi-ethnic cuisine) at hundreds of restaurants. Visit one of two vineyards on Cape Cod. At last count there were approximately 20 public or semi-private golf courses listed on Cape Cod--the closest, Olde Barnstable Fairgrounds Golf Course, is one mile away.
Historic Boston is an hour and a half drive away; New York is about 4 hours, for a jaunt into the city. The bus service to either city is excellent if you wanted to leave the car behind.
