Two of the better restaurants in the metropolitan area are only a few miles from the cottage, and they are certainly among the best in Southern Maryland. They have both been around for over 20 years. Marsh Hall Restaurant is run by a local who grew up in the area and he is the chef also. He does all food well, but excels at preparing local fish and seafood. The Cream of Crab Soup and Oysters Rockefeller are excellent, as are grilled or broiled fish.
Mama Stella's in Bryans Road is one of several Italian restaurants owned and operated by a Greek family that knows Italian cooking as well as any Italian. They prepare veal and all the standard Italian veal dishes as well as we have ever experienced.
The real attraction of our location is being so close to the metropolitan area and yet so far away in personality and access to nature. The fishing and flat water kayaking here are as good as any in DC area.
