The famous French Impressionist master Edgar Degas lived with his maternal family in the house from 1872 until 1873. Our beautifully restored historic property is the perfect place to experience classic Creole elegance and all that New Orleans has to offer.
The Degas House as a Bed & Breakfast holds a 9 room facility;
Estelle: We recommend this beautiful room as our bridal suite. Its features include hardwood floors, a luxurious four-post King size bed, a Victorian style claw-foot bathtub, beautiful cherry wood antique and reproduction furniture, and a private balcony with a view of historic Esplanade Avenue. The room also includes a full size trundle bed allowing it to accommodate up to four guests; Rate: $350 per night/High season rate $450.

Josephine: This room can accommodate two guests in its antique style four-post queen size bed. The room features hardwood floors, elegant antique and reproduction furniture, large windows and a porcelain claw-foot bathtub with shower; Rate: $225 per night/High Season Rate: $325.

Desiree: The features of this romantic room include a queen size four-post brass bed, dark wood furniture, and windows with a view overlooking the courtyard. With graceful furnishings and a Jacuzzi tub, this room is ideal for an intimate getaway; Rate: $225 per night/ High Season Rate: $325.

The Garret Rooms are located on the third floor of Degas House. These smaller rooms are modeled after 19th century artists’ studios built into the eaves of the upper story. Each contains an easel and pastels for drawing; Rate $140 per night/ High Season Rate: $225.

The William Bell, Mathilde and Michel Suites are located in the Degas II house;
William Bell: This is one of our largest suites; it has separate rooms and can accommodate up to four people in a king size bed and a four-post full size bed. This room also features charming furnishings, a full kitchen, a large closet, a Jacuzzi tub and a private balcony overlooking our courtyard. Rate: $350 per night/ High season rate $450

Mathilde: This large two-room suite can accommodate up to four people in its king size bed and full size sleeper sofa. The stylish furnishings, full kitchen, large Jacuzzi tub and private balcony overlooking Esplanade Avenue make this a truly luxurious suite. Rate: $350 per night/ High season rate $450

Michel: This large suite can accommodate up to four in a queen size bed in the bedroom and a futon in a separate living room area. Michel also features a large desk, spacious storage area, a shower-tub combination and shared access to a full kitchen (use of oven and stove are limited). Since this room is located on the first floor, this room is also perfect for those guests who have trouble coming down and up stairs. Rate: $300/High Season Rate: $400.

Guests have access to two beautifully decorated grand parlors featuring an extensive collection of reproduction Degas prints and sculpture. The first floor also has a cozy breakfast room for dining and a full kitchen that guests may also use. The Degas House is located on beautiful Esplanade Avenue, in what was in Degas’ time the wealthy Creole suburb of Esplanade Ridge. Majestic live oaks line the street and shade our charming brick courtyard. The courtyard features tropical landscaping, a fountain and wrought iron seating areas available for your use. Private off-street parking is provided for our guests. The rates include all taxes, continental breakfast during the week/hot breakfast on weekends, off-street parking if needed, and a complimentary guided tour explaining the fascinating history of our property.

GENERAL POLICIES: ALL RESERVATIONS ARE DOUBLE OCCUPANCY UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED. The charge for an additional guests is $25.00 per night per guest. Please do not exceed the maximum sleeping capacity of your room or suite. No smoking is permitted in the House. You may smoke outside in the Courtyard, on the balcony or on the porch. We will charge a $150 smoke removal fee to any parties smoking in their rooms. We accept Visa and MasterCard. You are given a set of keys when you check in; if these keys are not returned, there will be a charge of $50 to your credit card. For your protection and ours, we REQUIRE a copy of a signed and dated Guest Agreement, form of identification, and credit card used for deposit charge to confirm your reservation. CANCELLATION POLICY: All reservations are confirmed and guaranteed with a one night deposit. NO REFUNDS ARE ISSUED FOR CANCELLATIONS WITH FEWER THAN 14 DAYS NOTICE. DEPOSIT IS NON-REFUNDABLE.
