Ogden Dunes is set on the shore of Lake Michigan, just east of it's southernmost tip. It is completely surrounded by the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore Park. We are an hour from downtown Chicago, and less than 90 minutes from Chicago's O'Hare Airport. The town of Ogden Dunes has no through traffic. The homes are set among the wooded dunes. It is not a commercial, congested, resortish kind of community. The Code of the Dunes is in full force: Everything stops for sunset on the beach. Beach campfires in the evening are a way of life. If you stroll the beach at night, chances are you will be invited to join a campfire!

This is a house that was architecturally designed and built for its environment. The house is set up to let sunlight and the clean lake winds flow through every room on all three levels. It's clearly modernist in design, and we've furnished it in the international style. It is bright, cheerful and uncluttered. It's easy to keep it neat and orderly, if that's important to you. We continually upgrade the furnishings and decor to keep the place fresh and inviting. The blue link above will lead to pictures of every room. With about 4,000 sq. feet, there is plenty of space for everyone to spread out. My guess is that you will spend 90% of your time on the third floor. There is something magnetic about the space. You feel enlivened up there. There is nothing cluttered, fussy or delicate about it. It has an energetic, yet serene feel, enlivened by strong primary accent colors in each room. The north wall is entirely glass, providing horizon-wide views of the lake.

We do our best to have the place scrupulously clean and in peak operating order on your arrival. The house is kept fully equipped with virtually anything you might need during your week, apart from your groceries. You need only bring your clothing and toiletries if you are flying in. We provide all the beach accessories (coolers, chairs, mats, floats, games), plus two kayaks and a canoe! All linens and cooking supplies (including cooking and serving pieces, small appliances, utensils, staples, condiments and basic seasonings) are provided. The kitchen is expansive, equipped with high end appliances. Our goal is to provide a place with the standard of comfort and quality that you like in your own home.

We are perfectly situated to explore Chicago, the small beach towns of Michigan, or the Amish country of Indiana. Lake Michigan's southern shore has miles of broad beaches and water which warms quickly due to the shallow sandy bottom extending well into the lake. And the sunsets over the lake are magnificent!

This home was architecturally designed as the ultimate beach home, offering panoramic views from the expansive 1,350 sq. ft. 3rd floor gathering room, with 35' long balcony deck overlooking Lake Michigan. The clean sandy beach is a minute's walk across the street. Just take the path from the front door past the flowing stream, waterfall and koi pond! The first floor has a suite with kitchenette designed with the disabled in mind, and has an elevator to provide access to the third floor. The additional sleeping areas are in 3 connected rooms. The house is fully equipped with all of the amenities found in your own home. Three heating and two cooling systems are provided for your comfort.

The Indiana Dunes offer a beautiful environment for exploration. National Park ranger-led activities are easily accessed. You can rent a powerboat minutes from the house for a half or full day of exploration, fishing, waterskiing or tubing. Or simply hire a charter skipper to take you out to catch the big ones! Or simply use our canoe to paddle along the lakefront or up the Burns Waterway to quietly explore the area. A nearby water park offers a change of pace. The South Shore Electric Line train, leaving from the Ogden Dunes station, will take you quietly and comfortably into Chicago in about an hour to experience its cultural attractions, restaurants and theaters.
