Often described as a private 5-star resort, Molokai Sea Ranch is the perfect luxury beach vacation destination for one or up to four families. The property offers extraordinary tranquility and privacy on a nearly 12-acre compound across Kaiwi Channel from Diamond Head, just a 20-minute drive from Molokai’s small-jet accessible airport.
The property is located on the longest and widest unobstructed white sand beach in Hawaii, Papohaku Beach, on Molokai’s sunny western shore. It embraces over 750 feet of spectacular beach frontage that features a “park” of trails and deer paths and hidden gathering places in sandy coves, above the main beach.
DETAILS FOR MAIN HOUSE:
The main house includes over 3400 s.f. of covered lanai, with large open living, dining and kitchen spaces , all overlooking the pool and beach. The master suite (with a king bed, comfortable seating and TV) and two guest rooms (each with queen beds) all include private outdoor showers, private lanais with lounges, and private entrances all overlooking the pool and beach. Walls of sliding glass doors open rooms to the lanais, looking west over the lawn and pool to sunsets over Diamond Head and winter whales just offshore.
Fully furnished and fully equipped, the main house also includes a well-stocked library/TV area, kids play room, full pantry with extra refrigerator, freezer, wine cooler, ice maker, as well as full laundry, utility storage, linen room and powder room A large grill, sink, storage, lounges and outside dining tables on the large main lanai overlook the pool, lawn and beach. Outside amenities include pool with state-of-the-art filter system, pool house, hottub, outdoor showers, croquet lawn, regulation horseshoe pitch, many private seating areas, and a private path to the lower "park" and beach.
Just outside the main house is a kitchen garden with seasonal vegetables, fruits and flowers.
Next to the garden is a second building which includes an art studio with 360 degree views, natural light from all directions and its own bedroom/bath suite, plus a 2-story workshop, and 3-car garage. This building is not included in rental of the main house, but rental/use of the art studio can be made by separate arrangements. Bring your own art materials.
DETAILS FOR GUEST HOUSE:
The guest house is located south of the main house, some 100 yards across a meadow of native trees and grasses and young coconut palms, with paths and seating areas with expansive ocean views. The house includes a master bedroom (king bed and TV) and full bath in a loft, a sleeper sofa (queen) in a seating area, and a separate guest room, with 2 twin beds and a full bath, a few steps across the lanai.
The two-story living space overlooks the lanai, hottub, and beach. It includes two seating areas, dining area, open kitchen, powder room, full laundry facilities, desk and work counters, as well as a stairway to the master bedroom/bath loft. Sliding glass doors open to a broad lanai which includes a grill, dining area and lounges and the hottub and outdoor shower surrounded by tropical plants. There is a private path to the lower “park” and beach, with seating areas tucked beside sandy paths imprinted with wild deer and turkey tracks. Well-marked paths cross the meadow from guest house to main house, and provide ocean-view seating areas with hand-made teak-root benches.
At one side of the lanai is a large, two-story studio/workshop which is not included in rental of the guest house, but can be made available through separate arrangements.
A potting table and growing area is adjacent to the guest house and may be used by guests
Facilities
The main house and the guest house are designed to provide privacy as well as many gathering spaces for families and friends. In each, spacious open living, dining and kitchen areas in the great room flow to large, covered lanai that overlook the beach. The houses are beautifully furnished and well equipped (including books, videos, games, some sports equipment, toys and toddler gear).
The main house sleeps 10 in 5 bedrooms; the guest house sleeps 4 to 6 in 2 bedrooms and sleeper sofa.
Each house features a large hottub with ocean views, as well as outdoor grills and dining areas. Additional features included outdoor showers surrounded by tropical flowers, full and well-equipped kitchens and laundry facilities, wireless internet access, satellite TVs in living rooms and master bedrooms, fax/print/copy machines, and some cellphone access. Both houses offer endless views of the beach and ocean, from almost every room, and are surrounded by lush native landscaping.
Activities
Molokai Sea Ranch offers a great deal to do for family members of all ages. The grounds feature a swimming pool, croquet lawn, regulation horseshoe pitch, basketball hoop on a garage apron, archery target and several seating areas overlooking the ocean.
A variety of pool, ocean and sports equipment is also available for use, as well as a large selection of books, videos, card and board games and toys. Paths and trails wind through the property, and beach walks are magical. Be sure to walk along the dunes both north and south; you’ll see some interesting land configurations and homes in both directions. We swim, walk, talk, read, play games, cook together and generally get pretty lazy doing nothing
