Gorgeous custom honeymoon style suite features breathtaking views of two of the most magical mountains in the world: Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa which can be seen from the room or from the large hot tub on the private 17 foot second story deck! The room features a queen bed, mountain and rain forest (and no neighbors!) views from the six glorious windows, and custom tile bathroom with Koehler fixtures, and a tile shower with side by side independently plumbed double shower heads (with infinite hot water) and yet more massive windows with rain forest views. The room includes wireless internet (3g style medium speed mifi) and if you don't have your own computer there is an Imac - and also Brother fax/printer and brand new Epson scanner. Your stay includes use of the house phone - Mon thru Sat. especially early in the month I often need to have the phone for work from 8am to 2pm at the latest but when I am not using it you can have unlimited calls to the U.S. and Canada. Your cell phone should work fine here as well.
The true jewel of this place is the private deck with four person (actually fits more than that!) Baja spa hot tub. A private hot tub is pretty rare in Volcano - and the views are absolutely beyond compare. You just might agree that this is the best view of anywhere you could stay in Volcano! And according to my mom on the whole island :)
You have a coffee maker in your room and we will supply you with coffee, filters, cream and sweeteners and a selection of tropical fruit that is in season at our local farmers market.
I am an excellent chef and enjoy cooking many world cuisines and custom meals can be negotiated.
You can bring up to two kids for no additional charge and we will provide one toddler floor mattress or one pack n play style crib (don't expect to have much room to walk in that case). The toddler mattress and and pack n play probably won't fit at the same time, but if you can make it work you can use them both.
We are just over 20 miles from the Hilo Airport and the amazing privacy is conveniently located on a paved dead end street (again with no immediate neighbors) just a minute or two from Highway 11. We are less than five minutes from the shops and restaurants of Volcano Village and from there it is just about a minute to the Volcano National Park which some years is literally the most popular destination in all of Hawaii. Just past the park entrance is the Volcano Golf and Country Club and the Volcano Winery which offers wine tastings every day until 5pm. Nearby can be found some of the most fabulous hikes in all the world. We are at about 2800 feet and the weather is often cool and rainy. On a sunny day it is cosmic here and it is almost always the perfect temperature to exercise.
I have lived on almost every island in Hawaii and have spent the last six years working in real estate so I know these islands extremely well and as your host am happy to spend time helping you plan your itinerary or learn about the native plants.
You get the entire upstairs of the house and with our most excellent soundproofing you will probably have all the privacy you desire. Please do be warned that the downstairs is inhabited by my family which includes myself, my hubby and our two boys age almost 3 and almost 1. We tend to go to bed early and the baby is usually pretty happy. You definitely do not have to worry about making noise as the privacy door protects us.
You are welcome to share our gourmet kitchen which includes appliances like a cappuccino machine, microwave, toaster oven, vitamix, stand mixer, juicer, etc. However you must work with my family's schedule and I can't promise you a lot of room in the fridge.
The house is non-smoking but you are welcome to smoke on your private deck or on our front porch if the kids aren't around.
