Kehena Beach is famous for frequent visits by spinner dolphins, occasional sea turtles, and seasonal Humpback whales. The pristine Kehena Black Sand Beach was formed from 1955 lava flow from the most active volcano in the world.  
 
Kehena Beach area is a 35 minute drive from Hilo International Airport. Exotic tropical fruits, organically grown vegetables, or fresh seafood are available at Farmer's Markets both on Hilo Bayfront and near Pahoa several days a week. 
 
Historic Pahoa Village is 15 minutes away where you can savor Thai, Mexican, or Italian cuisine or visit the Natural Foods store or many boutiques. 
 
There are many sites of interest including the unique Ahalanui geothermally heated pond only 15 minutes down the scenic road from Ramashala. Hawaii's #1 attraction, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park visitor's center is less than an hour's drive from Ramashala.
