Bears’ Place Guest House is a great home-base for exploring the Big Island of Hawaii. Centrally located 7 miles north of downtown Kailua Kona, at a comfortable elevation in a quiet neighborhood, we are ten minutes from the airport and fifteen minutes to the beautiful beaches along the Kona - Kohala Coast. We are half a mile from the picturesque Makalei Hawaii Golf Course. Waimea is a half hour drive, and Hilo and Volcanoes National Park make a great day trip.

Your hosts, Nanette and mother, Anne, offer three beautiful vacation studios. Each features a separate entrance, private, full bath, wireless high speed internet, cable TV, and kitchenette with refrigerator/freezer, microwave, coffeemaker, toaster, electric skillet, rice cooker, hot water pot, and dishes.

All studios have comfortable queen size beds, and sleeper sofas for extra guests. Glass sliders open unto spacious, covered lanais. The two suites have a separate sitting area and walk-in closets. A washing machine, dryer, detergent, and ironing board are available free of charge. We also offer the entire 3 bedroom, 4 bath ocean view home for family or friends traveling together. It sleeps 14.

A welcome basket with fresh, tropical fruit, baked goods, and juice awaits are guests upon arrival. Coffee, tea and cocoa are always provided. Wake up in the morning to the sound of birds singing, and breakfast at your leisure. After a day of fun, relax on our lanais and enjoy sunset views of the coastline.

Anne and Nanette have lived in Kona for 20 years and have explored this beautiful island extensively. We will be glad to help you plan your daily adventures. We will also loan you beach chairs, towels, coolers, and boogie boards free of charge. Coffee, tea, and cocoa are provided. There is convenient, on-site parking.

We offer the following accommodations:

HIBISCUS ROOM - is a lovely, large, tiled, first floor room with queen bed, sleeper sofa, private, full bath, separate entrance, lanai, kitchenette, cable TV, and WiFi. It has a wonderful garden view, and you can see the Kona coastline through the banana trees, which are so close, you can almost pick the fruit from the lanai.

PINEAPPLE SUITE - spacious, first floor suite (over 600sf) with separate sitting area. It has a queen bed, 2 sleeper sofas, private, full bath, walk-in closet, separate entrance, lanai, kitchenette, cable TV, and WiFi. There is a view of the ocean through the banana trees. $85/nt single, $95/nt double

PLUMERIA SUITE - deluxe, private, top floor ocean view suite (over 600sf) with separate sitting area. It has a queen bed, 2 sleeper sofas, private, full bath, walk-in closet, separate entrance, lanai, kitchenette, cable TV, and WiFi. $95/nt single, $105/nt double

3BE/4BA Ocean View Home - Beautiful home with 3 bedrooms (2 are master suites with separate sitting areas), 4 full baths, fully equipped kitchen and living room. It is about 2,600 square feet, has wraparound lanais on both floors, and an ocean view of the Kona Coastline. There are 3 queen beds and 8 sleeper sofas. $295/night for up to 14 guests. 2 night minimum. No cleaning fees.

We are half a mile from great golf and a short drive to many wonderful beaches. Kona offers world class snorkeling and diving, great boogie boarding and surfing, and a free, solar heated, olympic size swimming pool for all to enjoy. Whalewatch, swim with dolphins, go zip lining, and enjoy spectacular views while horseback riding. Visit Mauna Kea, world renowned for its observatories or explore active volcanoes. Enjoy the historical sites, tour a Kona coffee farm or a seahorse farm. Lots for everyone to do!

RESERVATATIONS: Secure, online reservations can be made on our website at WWW.BEARSPLACEKONA.COM We have a 2 night minimum. (1 night stays are sometimes accepted, but are subject to a $25 cleaning fee. Reservations for 2 or fewer nights require payment in full. All others require a deposit of 50% of the total. The balance is due at check-in. We accept Visa and Mastercard.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Guests can receive a refund, less a $25 processing fee, if they cancel their reservation in writing at least 6 weeks prior to scheduled arrival. (For reservations of the entire home, the processing fee is $100.) Otherwise, the deposit may still be refunded if the room is re-rented. Guests who find it necessary to arrive late or depart early are still responsible for the full amount of their reservation, unless we can rebook the room.

SMOKING is not allowed in our home, but guests can smoke outdoors.
