The Real Hawaiian Deal !
My husband and I had the good fortune to spend the night at the coffee shack. Our bed was comfy, the place was spotless, and there was good ventilation. We chose to sleep in the front room, which is huge and is separated from the public area by a wall unit where there is especially designed space for a suit case. The kitchen was large and pleasant. It would be easy to have a nice sit down dinner at the table. There was also another table in the kitchen that could serve as an extra place for more guests to eat, or to play games, etc. In the morning (we arrived after dark) we were amazed at how very, very lush, private and ruggedly beautiful the property is. It's a reasonable walk (less than a mile) to a park and beach. The area is very beautiful and rural with lots of gentle rain and trees, trees, and more trees. It is fairly close to Hilo, but also definitely has a remote feeling. We loved the fact that there was internet access, but no TV. If you must have the option for a movie at night, if you have with a DVD device and/or a laptop with Netflix, you can still watch a show. There is phone and internet access. The shower is Hawaiian style outside with a tub in the bathroom for those who prefer to soak. For clean, peaceful and low-key, plus 'off the beaten path' this is an excellent choice.

A Restful and Peaceful Time in the Woods
I have stayed at Keoni's Coffee Shack several times over the years, and have always found it a a refreshing getaway. The accomadations are simple and satisfying;the outdoor shower is a delight, the quiet evenings perfect for reading or contemplation. Your own private retreat out in the country; yet neighbors are nearby across the stream. You might hear goat bells in the distance. No tv in this cottage, but you are surrounded by lush greenery and flowers. You won't have the company of crowds of tourists, but you might want to walk down to the beachpark. It is a lovely place to stay.
