Vacation Rental Description
Come to an island off the west coast of Florida. Little Gasparilla Island is a throwback to the way Florida used to be before development took over the coasts. It is pristine--no businesses or cars, only residences. There is no hustle/bustle of commercial distraction. It could never be considered crowded, even during holidays. The island charm works magic: folks are so pleasant to one another. Easily meet people of all ages or enjoy your privacy. Although you can be content indoors, the true beauty of the island can only be appreciated when you are outdoors. Native plants are home to many birds, rabbits, turtles, and even armadillos! Explore the island's pathways by golf cart/foot/bike (no cars). Marvel at the unbelievable sunset colors. Search the night sky for constellations (easily visible--no city lights). Watch dolphins play in the water. Fish from the dock or beach. Cook over coals in the palm-thatched communal BBQ with chairs, tables, and evening lights. Enjoy the swing set and pool (heated on cool days). Toss a ball or frisbee. Play on the 2-mile long white powdery beach. Collect shells, sand dollars, and shark teeth.
For more activities, go back to the mainland via a 5-minute ferry ride or your private boat. There you will find golf, shopping, dining, special events, cinemas, and much more.
Only my building has a unique feature: a wood deck extending over the bay just steps from our back doors. The owners in my building consider it our private area because nobody from other buildings uses it. It is secluded. You can fish from it, clean your catch at a bait table, or simply sit by the water's edge at a table and chairs. The townhome's 3-floor layout is the same as all the others: 1st floor open carport; 2nd floor with master bedroom (king size bed)/bath/kitchen/dining area/living room/screened porch; 3rd floor with another bath/bedroom(2 twin beds and floor space for a couple of sleeping bags or air mattresses). For my guests' enjoyment, I offer beach chairs, beach umbrella, and Styrofoam noodles. Chaise lounge chairs and tables with umbrellas are poolside.
The island is accessible only by boat. If you have a boat, launch it from a nearby ramp. The townhome docks have plenty of slips for boats up to 22 feet. Whether or not you have a boat, you can also use the townhome association ferry. Use it (unlimited times) at no cost during the regularly scheduled runs between the mainland and the island. The ferry runs every 2 or 3 hours, depending on the day of the week. The trip between the mainland and island usually takes 5 to 7 minutes, depending on the weather. There is no luggage limit. You load your personal belongings onto hand carts and roll them onto the ferry. Leave your car in a parking lot across from the ferry landing (no charge). Once you disembark on the island, push your carts to the unit. The distance is shortest to my unit as it is in the first building you see when you come off the ferry landing onto the island.
