Vacation Rental Description
Cape San Blas is truly one of the last unspoiled areas of Florida's Panhandle. Cape San Blas has relatively little development... no high-rise condos, no traffic (not even a traffic light), and no fighting for position on the beach as the beaches are quiet and uncrowded…even during peak season. Enjoy the white sand, unspoiled, dog friendly beaches and turquoise water of the Florida Panhandle! You'll love the white quartz sand that doesn't burn your feet, the sand dunes that give the setting character, and the gentle Gulf waves. The fishing is great, the crabbing fun and the activities abound from boating, hiking, tennis to impromptu socials. All of life becomes casual and fun once you breathe the glorious salt air and let go of what you left behind.
Far from the crowded beaches you've been to, on a beautiful spit of land surrounded by shimmering waters and abutting a pristine State Wildlife Park you'll find Barrier Dunes, the pride of Cape San Blas. If you enjoy incredible white sand beaches that offer miles of shoreline to discover, a calmer yet extremely friendly group of vacationers and casual relaxed fun, STOP! You need look no more!
Cape San Blas is the place to go if you want magical ambiance and sheer romance. The dunes remain in their natural state..in some places up to 30 ft. high. Walking in the wooded dunes is a real treat.
There are no bars or motels on the Cape and traffic is usually limited to people renting homes, state park visitors and homeowners. Cape San Blas is sparsely developed with plenty of open areas for meandering. If you need a restful break, this is the place!
St. Joseph Peninsula State Park is located right next door to Barrier Dunes and offers excellent access to the bay as well as 7 miles of undeveloped, unpaved pristine wilderness area, bay access, & beach. The park also has a boat ramp! The clear water bay is one of the cleanest in Florida & provides excellent snorkeling, boating, fishing, crabbing & scalloping.
Apalachicola is only 20 minutes away and has some quaint shops and great restaurants. Panama City Beach is just over an hour. Spend your days relaxing on the beach without the crowds, take an evening stroll, ride horseback on the beach or enjoy a glass of wine watching the fantastic sunsets over the Gulf.
Cape Escape II, Barrier Dunes 91, is a 2BR/2.5BA pet friendly condo. It is approximately 200 steps to the beach & the largest of the 3 Barrier Dunes fresh water fishing ponds is just outside the back door---FISH FROM THE BACK PORCH! There are 3 decks, fully stocked kitchen, laundry room & all household essentials are supplied (laundry detergent,dish soap etc) to help make your packing easier!
There is a King bedroom & Queen bedroom, both with full bathrooms. The living room also has a Sleeper sofa.
We try & make this your beach home away from home so we provide: Beach Chairs,Boogie Boards, Rafts/Floats, Crab Nets/Buckets a beach cart to get it all there & MUCH more!
Barrier Dunes is a secure, gated community with 2 pools, one is beach front and is about 200 steps from The Cape Escape II! Barrier Dunes also has lighted tennis courts, a playground, board walks and is located just outside St. Joseph State Park!
The beach was voted the #1 beach in the USA by Dr. Beach! It's a great place for families who want to enjoy the pristine beach or couples looking for a romantic getaway without the crowds of most Florida Panhandle beaches!
Without high rise condos & with half the Cape being State Park, there is plenty of room on the beach for the kids to play, you to relax & the dogs to run! You can even go horseback riding ON THE BEACH!! This is a perfect family or romantic retreat away from the crowds!

We had THE BEST time! The weather was perfect and the place was just beautiful. We had looked so long to find a place where we could take our dog-- ended up not going at all last summer as we could not find anything close to the beach that allowed pets. She truly believes she is one of us, so leaving her behind just was not an option. We were so excited to see how she would like swimming in the ocean and she LOVED it! Stepping out our back door and being on the beautiful Gulf was a real paradise!
We "shelled" each morning, what wonderful shells...we saw something new every day. My father is from Pensacola so I was familiar with the white sandy beaches and turquoise waters...but is always amazing to see how pretty it is when you've been away from it. But where can you find such a beautiful location and now crowds?!? We were so impressed with the solitude and quiet area -- no high-rises, Walmarts, tourist traps, etc. I so glad TS Faye did not do any damage to the area.
The guest guide was so helpful -- especially the restaurant guides and what to do sections. Enjoyed Sunset Grille and Loggerhead especially -- fabulous food and such friendly owners. In fact, everyone we met the entire week was so nice and friendly. We all so appreciated being able to bring ALL our family, and I was amazed how clean the beaches and town home was. Everyone's pets were so well behaved and most folks we spoke to were repeat visitors...as we will now become! We did go into Apalachicola and enjoyed shopping around their adorable shops and want to go to St. George next time.
It was a real benefit to have chairs, boogie boards, Frisbees etc., already in the townhouse. It just could not have been better furnished -- everything we needed was there. We enjoyed grilling fresh seafood one night so we could stay out on the beach late. Several evenings folks had bonfires and it was just beautiful to sit out and walk on the beach at night.
Thank you for all you did to make our week so very special. We will definitely be in touch as soon as we have dates lined up for next summer...if not before! You have been absolute delight to work with (although I knew a Hokie would!!) and we really appreciate all you did to get us set for a wonderful week.

We had a wonderful time...the place is just prefect. We really enjoyed the improvements (new furniture pieces). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The dogs are still dreaming of their romps on the beach and swimming. We've already bragged on you several times!

We enjoyed our time at the Cape. Pelican View looked to be one of the best units on the beach. We noticed it was one of the few with chaise lounges and palm trees right off the deck. We definitely appreciated both of those. We spent most of our time on the deck because it felt just like being on the beach.
