Vacation Rental Description
If privacy and a waterfront environment teeming with wildlife
appeals to you, then you have come to the right place.
Lake George Hideaway is a clean, modern, nicely decorated, fairly
large, canal front home located west of Pierson Florida near the
southeastern corner of Lake George.
Although Daytona with it's speedway, beaches, and nightlife is only
40 minutes away, and Disney World and all that goes with it are
within a 2-hour drive, the main attractions to this place are the
privacy, the quiet waterfront setting with abundant wildlife, and
the great boating/fishing made available via the canal connecting to
Lake George and the St. Johns River.
This is not the noisy, packed to capacity, tourist filled,
artificial, "Theme Park" Florida.
This is the real thing.....
Picture the early morning entertainment while eating your breakfast
at the rustic oak table on the screened-in back porch:
You are centered on the lot's 300 feet of waterfront. Because the
canal was dug almost 40 years ago with little development in the
area, the look and feel is not so much that of an artificial canal,
but more like a natural creek.
There are no other houses visable, only the Palm, Oak, and Cedar
trees, the dock, boathouse, and fish cleaning station.
Birds singing, frogs grunting, fish splashing. The sounds of nature
surround you and are only interrupted by the occasional weekend
airboater cruising the nearby lake.
Squirrels are creating a ruckus in the dry palm fronds as they jump
from one palm tree to another on the other side of the canal.
The Cardinals are feeding at the birdfeeder, there is a Blue Heron
hunting for breakfast out on the dock, and there are Ospreys
circling overhead waiting for an unlucky Bream, Speckled Perch, or
Largemouth Bass to come near the surface. You might see one of the
Great Horned Owls hanging out in the trees or consider yourself
fortunate if you catch a glimpse of a Bald Eagle gliding over at
tree top level.
A half dozen or more turtles are sunning themselves on the opposite
bank, and If you are lucky, you might get to see an Otter playing in
the water.
'Possum, Raccoons, Armadillos, Deer, Wild Turkeys, Manatees etc.,
etc..
Pretty much any animal Florida's got to offer has been spotted
around here at one time or another.
We never seem to tire of the going's on in the backyard, and we bet
you won't either.
NEW ADDITIONS!
We have added a 5 person hot tub, and you've got to see the garage
that has been converted to a game room with blacklights, pool table,
jukebox, antique Shuffle Bowler and more! Check out more pictures at
the Lake George Hideaway website.
Bring your boat!
The dock and covered boat slip are located right in the back yard,
only a short distance away from the screened-in porch. A short ride
down the canal brings you out to the large, beautiful Lake George.
Lake George and the connecting St. Johns river offer many fishing and
cruising opportunities, and the nearby Silver Glen Springs and Salt
Springs with their crystal clear waters are a great place to go swim
or just hang out.
Don't get the idea you've got to own a boat to enjoy Lake George
Hideaway though. Most find that they don't even need to leave the
yard to enjoy the natural Florida beauty, great fishing, and
wildlife.
NOTE: To be clear, unlike some of the rentals in the Astor area,
this is a conventionally constructed house, not a mobile home. It is
located in a nice, clean, residential neighborhood made up entirely
of houses (no mobile homes or campers), and although there are only
2 bedrooms and 1 bath available for use, this is a large roomy house
with approximately 2500 sq ft to wander around in. Also, because the house is primarily a private weekend home for our own use, you will find it to be furnished, decorated, and maintained better than your average vacation rental.

As stated before, the primary purpose of this house is a weekend home, not a vacation rental. You will find the kitchen far better supplied than your average rental. Also we have a large video library of 350+ movies, and a very nicely decorated game room with a pool table, jukebox, antique shuffle bowler, slot machine, pinball machine, and dart board.
There is a dock to park your boat at, you can pull your boat under the roof of the boathouse if it is not too tall (mid or aft cabin cruisers or center consoles with a T-Top will be too tall), or if that's not enough there's probably 90 feet of seawall to tie up to.
There is also a fish cleaning table with running water.
