Tarpon Springs on Florida's scenic Nature Coast is not the Florida you may know. It's roots go back to Spanish explorers who visited the abundant fresh water springs in the 17th century. Several centuries later came Greek sponge divers who created an enclave of Greek island culture and Mediterranean lifestyle along the shores of the beautiful Anclote River and Gulf of Mexico. Relax on any of the 3 porches of our tin roofed, 2400 sq ft home and watch seagulls and osprey soar above the orange, grapefruit, mango and avocado trees. Flowers and flowering trees also surround the house which is located in a neighborhood of lovingly restored Victorian homes and small museums. You'll find the beautiful Spring Bayou, winter home to grazing manatees, just two blocks from our doorstep. Area beaches and golf courses are a short drive away. Downtown Tarpon Springs has antique stores, cultural centers, restaurants, banks, etc. within easy walking distance of your front door. Within ten minutes, you can stroll over to the historic Sponge Docks with its sponge, crabbing and fishing boats. The main street running along the Riverside promenade is lined with Greek Restaurants,savory pastry shops and cafes. There are stores selling everything from scented soaps and Cuban cigars to Greek clothing and food imports.
After exploring all of the local sights, you'll enjoy some well deserved rest and relaxation in our very bright and airy restored home. There are hardwood floors and ceramic tile throughout. The master suite features a queen-sized bed and bathroom with both a sunken tub and a custom-built shower. The other bedrooms feature a queen-sized bed and twin beds, respectively. The second, shared bath has "His & Her" pedestal sinks and a lovely claw-footed shower/tub. If you tire of sampling the area's Greek and other fine restaurants you can cook for yourself in our completely equipped kitchen. Buy your fresh seafood from dockside markets as the boats unload their catch. Nearby stores offer fresh baked breads and pastries, gourmet coffees, homemade cheeses and sausage. The area abounds in roadside produce markets with their wealth of berries, figs, melons, corn,etc. Orlando's theme parks are about 90 minutes away but Busch Gardens is only about 45 minutes and is just as exciting. If you prefer your entertainment closer to home enjoy watching any of our 400 +/- DVDs & Video Tapes on one of our 3 televisions. Your rent also includes dial up or WiFi internet, DOMESTIC long distance and local calling. Rent includes all linens, parking,etc.
So if you're ready to explore or just snore, practice your swing ,deepen your tan, cast for snook,watch for dolphins, count birds, curl your toes in the sand or just disappear for awhile come to our beautiful Cottage, come to Tarpon Springs...."We'll leave the light on!" as they say. 30% deposit down with the balance due within 30 days of arrival. A $75.00 cleaning fee and 12% tourist tax will be added to rent. Longer rentals can be negotiated. We have minimum night stay requirements. Payment can be made by personal check or in Sterling, Euros or Canadian dollars. There are no additional or hidden fees.
