These Unique Island Cottages are a wonderful vacation for a couple, small family, or large family reunion for 14!!! There is simply no place like it on the island.
Our family has lovingly restored this HISTORIC 1939 FISHING CAMP located on beautiful Sarasota Bay. You'll be surrounded by water living on the narrowest point of Anna Maria Island. These cottages were built by a former navy man and published boat designer, Bruce Crandal. Choose between the three unique cottages or rent them all for a family reunion. We know you'll fall in love!
Located at 115 South 7th Street, the cottages have a very private yard which extends out into the bay, giving expansive unobstructed views of the historic clock tower and pier, the sailboat harbor, draw bridge, and the skyline of Sarasota. The large dock can easily accommodate two boats, and is great for fishing, or just watching the boats go by.
The MAIN HOUSE has a large Upper Efficiency Unit with 1 bath, (sleeps 2-3) with vaulted ceilings and wonderfully spacious deck. There is a queen bed and sofa bed. Check the beach conditions out your window. Endless Views!!!!
The Main Level Unit of the HOUSE has 1 Bedroom with 1 bath (sleeps 2-4) It's the largest unit and has a nautical theme complete with boat blueprints from the original owner. You'll especially enjoy reading in the alligator leather chairs in the spacious window-filled front room. Patio doors lead out to the front deck with porch swing (from our great-grandma's house). There's also a queen sized hide-a-bed, and twin roll-away available. A spiral staircase connects the two units and works great rented together with a family and grandparents.
The MIDDLE COTTAGE, with 1 bath/sleeps 2-4, was just completed and is a great place to hang out and relax. We opened up the walls and ceilings exposing the original framing of the house. It's all finished in white with a sky blue ceiling. The original pine floors are simply gorgeous. The bathtub/shower is finished with blue and green glass tile accents, along with the original 1939 sink. There is a queen bed and built-in twin bunks in the back bedroom. Surfboards hang in the ceiling rafters.
The END COTTAGE with 1 bath, sleeps 2-4 has the open exposed ceiling, a bedroom with a queen bed and also a hide-a-bed. The bath has a large walk-in shower with rain forest shower head! The cypress-wood kitchen island really complements the original pine floors and casual theme.
IT'S ALL ABOUT SLOWING DOWN TO ISLAND TIME...
Start your days with a cup of coffee on your private front porch watching the sailboats in the bay, then try your luck fishing off the dock for grouper, snook, or reds. Set a crab trap for dinner later. Or just watch the Manatee swim by.
Head to the beach just 5 houses away down our quiet street. Search for shells or bike the pathway which runs alongside the dunes to Longboat Pass where dolphin frequent. Later, walk to the historic main street pier for a grouper sandwich or do a little shopping. Afterwards, take a quick nap in the hammock swinging between the palm trees..ZZZZZ..
In the afternoon, take a swim in the clear blue waters of the Gulf and relax on the white sand beaches. Snorkel out to the sand bar and collect sand dollars. Rent a jet ski, try para-sailing, or rent a Hobie-cat for some fun in the water.
Wrap up your sun-filled day enjoying a glass of wine and those delicious crab claws with your family and friends... and then stroll to the beach to applause another spectacular sunset. End your evening at one of the many wonderful local restaurants. Our kids love to catch shrimp off the seawall at night, while the rest of us tell stories around the outdoor fire pit.
